Hehe, i think mines is going at 40000 miles. (Remap at 30000)

It was definitely slipping badly last night but seems to be okay this morning!

I had this problem a couple of months back but again cleared itself the next day!

Its a sign of things to come and i'm allready saving money for an uprated clutch and lightened flywheel!

Engine still going strong though :)

Mine was slipping last night, see the end of this thread, discussion with Vern.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=74022&page=2

Mine is booked into the dealers tomorrow, for them to have a look, was fine this morning though, and i was overly aggressive to see if i could get it to slip again, so it sounds more like its a sticky slave cylinder, rather than the clutch being mullered.

Highly unlikely with mine, that the clutch is worn out, unless there is a big fault, as its only done 13500 miles

As long as its fixed, very unlikely as ive said to be clutch worn out, no smell, and clutches don't suddenly fail, ie no drive whatsoever, thay have to have been going for a while.

What will the dealers say though zboyd?

I agree they should fix a master cylinder under warranty but what if it is the clutch slipping due to the amount of power you are putting down?

I have had the sticky clutch pedal also and needed to raise the pedal back up with my feet! Again it sorted itself out!

I don't drive like I stole it, I don't set off at breakneck speeds, it just doesn't feel like what normal clutch slipping is like, more like no drive engaged.

At low/setoff speed its putting down no more power than before it was remapped. If the clutch was slippiong due to, too much power, then id expect to see it near the top of the rev range, under full loads.

Its a common ailment too, just search the forums, sticky clutch pedals, pedals sinking to the floor.

IM sure if it was due to too much power, many more cases would of surfaced by now, many LCR have been remapped far longer than my own, and covered far more mileage.

Just bought my LCR and had to put a clutch in it within the first fortnight.
It's got 60,000 miles on it and that was the original clutch.
Get the £££ ready for when it goes, especially if you need the DMF (Dual Mass Flywheel) aswell like me!

How much for clutch, flywheel and fitting and is it standard spec or uprated?

Zboyd, the best way to check for slipping clutch is to put it in high gear with low revs and then accelerate. Say 5th gear at 30mph where revs are under 2000rpm and accelerate.

When i had slip on mine, it was all under 3500rpm. If i accelerated under 3500rpm the clutch would slip. If i accelerated over 3500rpm the clutch would be fine!

My clutch was slipping quite bad tuesday evening but yesterday and today it has been fine!

Tell me I'm talking crap but surely you'd get max slippage where there is max torque, not max power?

(Not that yours should be going, Z.)

No your not talking crap, as i'm getting silly wheel spin just as torque comes in not at peak power (eg I would imagine the clutch would give way like the tyres ie at the weak point when the torque comes in) please feel free to disregard anything I say as drunk half a bottle of Jack Daniels already. :D

Mine was slipping from set off, nowhere near approaching peak torque or peak power. Basically, let out clutch, no or little drive, pump pedal, i got it back.

Its been in today anyway, tech couldn't find anything wrong, but did say that the cylinders do indeed sometimes stick, and pumping the pedal, clears it, unless it fails completely, in which case, pedal to the floor scenario.

After driving it, he said my clutch is fine, checked the adjustment etc, loads on it.

Basically one of those freak things, its not done it since, so touch wood, it was just a one off and its ok, but as always they have said, if it does it again bring it back and they'll investigate further.
