Just got my LCR - '55 plate - well chuffed with it!
Just having a scoot over the climate control it looks like you can enable and disable the compressor but a mate that had an octavia said that he had an eco mode on his that intermitently switched the compressor on and off to save fuel etc.? Im assuming the LCR climate control doesnt do this and its a 'manual eco' by turning it on and off with index finger?

The compressor turns on and off anyway - just like a fridge's.

Anyway, I'm pretty certain that 'ECO' modes are just "air con off".

Not really, if the snow flake is showing i.e. the air-con is active then the system is still 'conditioning' the air, i.e. passing it through the system to dry it and stabilise the temperature.

Two things worth mentioning. I hate to say it, but if you're that worried about mpg, the LCR may be the wrong purchase for you! Its simply not good whatever you do!

Also, following some warranty work on the air con system of my LCR this year, one of the guys suggested periods of it being switched off will encourage failure of rubber seals in system, potentially leading to expensive/inconvienient repairs (depending on whether or not its in warranty when it happens). Not sure if this is true or not, just what he told me - running it all the time is recommended apparently.
