LCR brake issue

I went to a track day in January and on my last session I started to feel the brake pedel judder under braking (almost like the abs cutting in). When I got home that evening the brakes looked like this :(

The discs (ebc) and pads (DS2500) were about 6 months old. Later that week I replaced the discs with ebc grooved and another set of DS2500 pads. I went on a drive to get them bedded in braking from 60 a few times without coming to a complete stop and giving them time to cool before getting home. They had been fine for the next 600 miles of road use.

Over the last weekend I went on another track day this time taking it easy on the brakes, braking much earlier and only staying out for 15 minutes. On the first session I noticed the same noise as I was getting on the last track day and just put it down to them being groved discs. Then later on it started to get louder, that's when I called it a day. The discs still look fine apart from some light scouring. However under normal driving I'm getting almost a grinding noise when braking unless I'm being very gentle. I'm sure I didn't overheat them and was leaving a good 3 miles to cool them down. I'm just wondering what could be causing this or whether it is possible to get the brakes working normally again without having the replace the discs and pads?

Cheers

mine are the same after track, they are heating up, even if you go steady on brakes you will find thats worse as you are leaving your foot on the brake for longer, i found braking late and standing on them worked better, the best way is to swap pads for track and road.

no DK, they do this after track, 9 times out of 10 its build up of the pad on the disc, or the pad is a bit scorched, thay can sorth them selves out after a bit of normal driving.

D.K, the Ferodo DS2500's have a very specific bedding in procedure which involves 25-30 brake applications of about 4 seconds of roughly '50% race pressure', allowing them to cool slightly in between which equates to about the time it takes to reach approx 70mph again..

These are high speed pads, designed for high speeds, their temp operating range is obviously a lot higher than road/OEM pads.

Thanks for the advice. By the way, was you at bedford autodrome on saturday? Your numberplate looks familiar.

Yeah that was me, I went with some mates in a 318si which developed a misfire after lunch (found out it was a ht lead and not a knackered engine thankfully). So we spent most of the afternoon spectating from the first corner taking photos. I had a 28mm rear antiroll bar fitted recently which really helped in cutting out understeer. I'm just hoping the brakes will sort themselves out as all 4 tyres need replacing.

Ye I had a look round yours. Couldn't find you to say hi. Was an awesome day. Don't think mine are sorting them selves so might get ds3000 and put them in for track.

you should really consider DS3000's for track use
noise is normal from hot brakes, and boy will they be hot on track use!!!
