My 2002 LCR which has been serviced by Seat from new and has only done 42K now has had 6 advisory items needing attention. Can anyone tell me what prices to expect for parts and labour? Do you think I should only get some items fixed?

1) Nearside Front lower (inner rear) suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement [2.4.G.3]

2) Offside Front lower (inner rear) suspension arm rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement [2.4.G.3]

3) Nearside front Macpherson strut has slight movement at the upper attachement. [2.5.A.1c]
This problem has been noted as an advisory for the last 2 years and according to the MOT guy it needs a rubber suspension top mounting? If I get this changed do you think that I should change any othr bushes? For example bump stop / anti roll bar bushes?

4) Offside front Macpherson strut has slight movement at the upper attachement. [2.5.A.1c]

5) Front (bracket) Exhaust has part of the system slightly deterorate [7.1.1a] The brackret behind the rear box has come apart. I know that it can be welded but do think that I should replace the whole bracket? Cost for labour and parts?

6) Nearside front brake pads wearing thin [3.5.1f] I need to replace the pads quickly. Are Mintek any good, exisitng ones are EBC red stuff but they only lasted 2 years. I drive normal on the roads. Should I also try ATE / TRW?

Please could someone give me a recommendation for parts and labour costs?

Regards.

Your wishbones will be ok if theres no excessive movement.

Change the suspension top mounts there very cheap to replace and an easy job to do about 20 quid each i think

Change the exhaust, Its a good excuse to get a stainlees full system like milltek, blueflame etc cost about £380 cheaper than an oem replacement system

Change the brake pads for brembo, ferrodo etc cost about £110-£130 depending where you get them you can get alot cheaper pads but there crap and not worth it

You dont need ebc redstuff as these are ceramic really for track cars as they only really work well when there really hot. and can somtimes warp your discs.

Thanks, I have no skills to replace the top mounts, but I think I can haggle with Seat Cambley. Do you think I should get both top mounts replaced? The drivers side top mount advisory has only just occured this year the other side has been there for about 2.5 years but I think that this time he said that it is slowly getting worst.

If I get the dealer to replace the top mount, is it also cheaper to replace the wishbone or rubber bushes at the same time?

Just take the car to a VW specialist to get them to do the rectification.

SEAT prices for labour are ridiculous.

2yrs out of front pads is good. Many LCR's see them as an annual service item

I've still got my originals in from when I bought the car, that was almost 4 years ago!
I think I may have to drive a bit quicker lol

just bought front top mounts & bearings and rear bump stops for less than £50 genuine

if your strapped for cash id weld the rear bracket back, and save up

i know mines a tdi , but cant imagine them being much more expensive

<Pedant mode> I think it would be the 5th MOT, not 7th. ;) </Pedant mode>

same mode:p , he mentions 7th advisory not 7th mot , meaning more than 1 advisory per year , and now on his 7th advisory ,

also i only seen 6 listed

cocky mode off

i personally get the advisory notes done shortly after an mot if ive been issued with on ,
over a few months dependant on what was advised

Maybe you should change your MOT station and service garage.

I had 5 advisories on my last car, I fixed one and ignored the rest. I took the car back to the same place the following YEAR for it's MOT and the car PASSED! No mention of the 4 advisories I ignored.
