Firstly, Martin, Mork, Zboyd and Friends, if this is in the wrong place, please feel free to move it on.

I've been reading quite abit recently about Lambda / o2 Sensors, and mainly the Pre cat one on the ibiza (Part Number: 06a 906 265 N) partly because there's been alot of talk about them, and mainly, because i reckon mine is fudged.

Now i'm looking to replace mine, but at £90ish, it aint cheap, so as most do, i've been looking at better value for money options (not just heap replacements)

I have a few questions,
The pre cat Lambda /o2 sensor on the Ibiza, how many wires does it have?
Also does anyone have a picture of the Connector, as i've seen a few different ones, that I believe may fit. (Dont really wanna do a universal one,and end up having to cut and solder)

Lastly, there has been alot of talk about the Sensor being a narrowband sensor, would it be worth replacing the current one with a wideband sensor?

I have found this site www.lambdasensor.com and they seem to have wideband ones on there.

If anyone can help i'd appreciate it, cheers

Possible ones that will fit i've found are the Golk Mk4 and New Beetles.

the standardones are ok as long as there is nothing wrong with the way your motor is running, if you go aftermarket your (i think) not going to get one with the same connector.
put a standard one back on generate the readiness codes and check for faults,
they normall only go wrong when they are submerged or the motor is running incorrect ie coilpack failuer or air leak

i had mine throgh up codes but the car ran fine so i replaced it.
As far as i know the ibiza ECU will not read the wideband sensor so just stick with a narrow band.
i looked in to all this and at the end of the day i think it saves time and money in the long run to just buy things like this from the dealer.

Olly, Thats exactly what I'm thinking too.

Was just looking for answers to the questions, i've been told that the wideband wont work though.

Taken from another thread.....

sorry if anybody already knows this but its just to say that the lambda sensor before the cat is the same for both engines AYP and AQX.

as im sure everybody is aware you can get many pattened parts for the AQX engine but next to none for the AYP (this is what i'm finding anyhow everybody in the pattern part world lists most things for AQX and next to none for AYP) so after some searching i found that they are the same but careful cos the one after cat is different!!!

it should save people some money as you can get a direct replacement for £50 at autospare for before cat on AQX engine

Now thats the one i found, but the poster Boldrick is from Northampton, and Olly seemed to have got one from there too, which made me think it wasn't the right one, i did ask on that thread, but no one confirmed it as yet.
