lag problem on LCR

On the way to work this morning, I noticed a fairly large lag problem, in each gear below 3k, was taking a couple on seconds for the turbo to catch up. I have never had anything like this before, the power has been instant, any ideas what it could be?

I will scan it for fault codes when I get home, and see if I can find any leaking pipes etc, but it still pulls well when the turbo comes in.

could it be dodgy fuel?

what fuel have you used... fuel filter when was that last changed? could be plugs, coilpack... guessing really without logging on vagcom

Its running on shell optimax, the plugs were changed last october, it aint had a fuel filter in the last 20k that I have owned it,

Also what do I need to be logging on vagcom?

409-1, could it be air flow too?
