I really wanted to get the ARBS in the group buy that finished the other day, but just cant afford to get them and suspension at the moment. The reason ive gone for the suspension is that ive just put 19's on my leon cupra and it needs to drop about 25-30mm to look spot on with the wheels. Im now stuck with the choice of whether to go with koni FSD's and a set of springs (eibach most prob) or a set of coilovers, but i really dont want to spend much over £400 for them as lots of other things to get (house etc. lol). I really like the idea of the koni's and dont want a really harsh ride. Also just to check, if i wanna get ARBS in the near future do i need to take this into account when getting the suspension (eg mounting etc). Thanks all

To be brutally honest mate, with £400 to spend, coilovers are out of the question, as that wont buy you a good kit but a entry level kit, which isnt worth the money IMHO...

The FSD, have always been highly regarded, but also H&R Damper kits are high regarded and both give you a drop that you require.
Also the note with Coilovers is that you will get a harsher ride than a damper kit, so i would steer clear if your not one for a "sporty" ride comfort.

cheers for the info mate. Yea knew about coilovers being harsh from a previous car and not interested in buying a cheap set that will crack my teeth. Just wondering on the fsd's with eibach springs as seems a really good concept, but aint seen anyone say "they are spot on, get them"

They are highly regarded so I am pretty sure it will be a really good setup. However there are not the be all and end all of suspension setups. You do have a lot of choices....

magic, only wish that i had the cash to have got the arb's in the group buy as everyone is in agreement that they are the dogs danglers. How much the FSD kit and the springs cost u mate.

I've got the FSD's on mine with Eibach springs and in my opinion it's a great setup. Normal driving there isn't musch difference to standard but when you give it some the car performes superbly. I paid £650 for mine fitted so if you can get them for £400 i'd say go for it.

There are quite a few people on here who have the koni fsd's and eibach spring setup on thier LCR's, This setup seems to be highly regarded, but if your looking for more than a 20mm drop you won't get it with this setup. If your after a bigger drop then you'll be looking at a decent set of coilovers which will cost quite a few £

I was really surprised when I saw a LCR lowered on Eibachs and FSD's, as the drop is tiny. Granted, the LCR sits lower than any other Leon as standard, and it still looked really, really good! But if you didn't know it had been lowered, you'd think it was standard.

LC should be more obvious, but just don't expect a big drop.

Rob - guess that was my car you were referring too :D

Agreed the drop isn't that great with the Eibach/FSD's but wouldn't you want to go much lower as it already has clearance issues with the splitter and undertray (damn those speedbumps!).

That said I'm planning on ditching the FSD's and just ordered a KW variant 2 setup yesterday . Robdon is using this setup and seems pretty pleased with this and a colleague at work who does trackdays also rated the reputation of KW, so fingers crossed.

In my opinion the FSD's are leaning too much on the comfort side and not enough on the sporty side, they seem good chucking it around at low speed and comfortable on a cruise but I just don't feel connected enough to the road at high speed, and with my power you get there pretty quickly.;) Also I'm hoping to do some trackdays and if I'm feeling on the limit on the road they I think I certainly will on the track.

Given a budget of £400 though it's a difficult choice as decent coilovers like KW's start at £650 ish for V1's and £820 for V2's.

Mind you I will have a set of FSD's going cheap in a couple of weeks when I the the KW's fitted. Only a few K miles on them and one careful owner...:)

Also meant to add I'm going for the Eibach ARB's and Powerflex bushes at the same time as the KW's. Thought I was better off saving a bit on the ARB's and spending more on the coilovers, though I like the idea of the Neuspeed's I had to draw the line somewhere. Reckon the bushes are worth a punt too (just over £100) though a bit of a pain to fit, based on experience a few years ago with an old Lancia HF turbo they should help reduce torque steer.

yea, im looking at the eibach erb's aswell alot more wallet friendly and im getting an aftermarket exhaust so no probs with the issue of catching the exhaust. Yea il be up for taking the suspension off your hands (aslong as mr bank manager lets me, lol). So these KW's are highly recomended for road and track use are they (mmm tempted).
Does it matter that mine is a cupra not an R as im sure that there is a mounting point on the front strut for the ARB's on the Cupra R. So if they do fit then might aswell use a Cupra R fitment suspension ready for the ARB's? (im now waiting for the "its not that simple" reply as its never that easy when it comes to me  lol)
