i always wanted to put a ko3s on to my old ibiza but was never able to afford it, the biggest expense is the intercooler at 700 quid, but what i was wondering is if you fit a ko3s to an ibiza it would be the same set up as a leon cupra, a leon cupra remaps to 230bhp with a good exhaust and with no need to upgrade the intercooler, so why is it such an essential to upgrade it on the ibiza? the intercooler isnt much smaller than the leons, im going to buy another ibiza cupra and will be doing the ko3s route, its always confused me, hope someone can shed some light on this,,, thanks

ok its bigger but lets be fair not much, the ibizas is wider bearing in mind, just cant see how they say you need a fmic when the difference is so small, surely you see where im coming from?

i can sympathise that you wouldnt wanna pay 700odd for a new I/C, hell im very reluctant too!
but unfortunatly when u suffer the summer heat in a standard cupra, and a remapped one is even worse... there isnt much hope of maintaining 230/240bhp with a standard I/C

The Golf/Leon's side mount intercooler is more efficient/effective than the Ibiza one.

You could leave the intercooler for now, but your car will heatsoak, so you wont get the best performance out of it.

I'd do the intercooler first though if I were you, as its the sensible thing to do - k03s+ remap will cause bits in engine to get hotter. Experience says component failure is more likely to happen if bits get hot. Therefore makes sense to reduce heat before adding to it. :)

The ibiza's smic is awful, small, badly placed and only one of them! The leon has bigger ones and two of them.

Its is a lot of money but when you add it all up its not that bad a price, the silicones alone would be the best part of 150- quid, coulple of hundred for the same spec intercooler, fabricated pipework, new slam panel crash bar... so it is worth it.
