K1 vs TTS, first impressions

Dear all, the (standard) k1 has now gone and have had the TTS for a week so I thought I'd share my impresisons.

I won't bore you with the interior, it's been done to death we know.

Performance wise the audi is very quick. However it doesn't feel as quick as the k1 did. The main reason for this is that you are very isolated from the road. Despite a lower driving position I still don't feel I am accelerating as fast as I was in the k1 (even though I am going like stink).

The steering and handling are both very precise and I am experimenting with using the quattro to power out of corners and roundabouts much earlier. I have misjudged this already and gone round one sideways... oops

The magride is still a bit of a mystery to me at this point. I can only tell if it's on or off by looking at the light! Possibly down to me not driving in a way that really requires the stiffer ride...

It doesn't stop as well as the cupra, which has surprised me. However at 1430 kerb weight it is heavier than the k1. I am finding I have to think a lot more about my stopping distances, particularly as I am more isolated from what is going on around me.

The styling is completely different and much more grown up compared with the k1 however it manages to remain aggressive while still being stunningly beautiful.

The soundtrack is sooooo much better. The quad pipes on the audi have been clearly well tuned accoustically as it sounds the way I always wanted the k1 to. Deep throaty rumble rising to an aggressive sounding rasp.

So, am I pleased with my new toy? Emphatically yes! I clearly need to get used to it and figure out how to drive it to get the best out of it. I will keep you posted.

Its about time you posted a review mate, thought you had been keeping quite. Glad you like it, I really do think that the TTS is the pick of the range engine and looks wise.

It should be the pick of the range being the most expensive 2.0tfsi, i am supprised at the kurb weight a little though, i thought the tts was supposed to be quite lightweight.

Glad you like the new motor although this just make me want to swap to an Audi quattro varient of the 2.0tfsi even more or maybe a 2008 STI.

Think the haldex alone adds 80kg, then these TT's premium interior adds to the weight aswell with all the goodies.

Historically alot of cupra owners do seem to move on to quattro or scooby/evo type cars and I think there are a few of us who will do the same in the future!

Well I booted it along a nice straight in the wet yesterday which would've had the k1 b*tching at me no end. The audi just went like an arrow, didn't flinch.

The only time I have got it unsettled is accelerating too early out of corners. Quattro doesn't replace the laws of physics.

I have to say, having taken mrs 2zero out this morning, it is damn fast and I haven't even redlined it yet, easing off at around 5k revs as it only has 120 miles on the clock.

Remap and downpipe this summer once I have got used to everything.

oh and LED DRLs are just the sex! :p

Me thinks the remap and downpipe will bring this car to life and then you'll really be loving the grip.

Oh and we want pics aswell ;).

That's exactly why I wanted the quattro before starting to mod, even though I know you guys are loving stage 2 and beyond.

Err, right, pictures, bear with me a minute.

I reckon a trip to the pod may well be in order, although someone will have to teach me how to drive this thing properly first! Might see if I can convince mrs 2zero to bring the Abarth along as well.

Just plain old ibis white, can't get away from the white cars (you know me....).

It is absolutely stunning, like the k1, pictures just don't do it justice.

Yeah I bought the missus the abarth as an engagement present. Some people say I went a little overboard.... She's now on at me for a remap.

Its so hard to tell between the ibis and suzuka grey in pics!

Lucky girl indeed, mapped abarth should be a bundle of fun aswell. Your spoilt for choice mate

Yeah the scary thing is she teaches people to drive in the Abarth! I offered to pay for the Essesse kit but she said "no i need to be sensible". She has changed her tune since....

Never did me any 'arm... :p

Anyway, I just tell myself that's what I get for marrying a petrolhead who loves whiskey.

Seriously, most guys have to give up the drink and the fast cars when they get married. For me it was required training!

Now back to the Audi, how long can I hold out before I hoof it over to awesome....
