Car passed its MOT last Thursday with no problems relating to emissions. how ever it did get picked up for the following :-

Non standard air filter fitted.

Engine cover fitted obscuring some engine components.

Under trays obscuring some underside components.

WTF, think they better get in contact with SEAT and tell them they are building cars wrong??

I had this done when i first got my k1 as the exhaust note didn't really suit the feel of the car (a non existent exhaust note that is) Got it done at a local body shop to me for £80. Got a few photos of the process.
Taken from another forum I use:
Here she is, sitting waiting to go up on the ramps

Exhaust system, dont know why it is so quiet, there's hardly anything blocking in the way!

Now here is the resonator section! - not too big!
100_0815.jpg

Had trouble getting one clip off as the bolt was stupidly tight! but finally its all off!
100_0817.jpg

New bit of piping which will go in its place
100_0818.jpg

Cat pipe, 2.75" pipe and theres loads of room for a 3" system

The box has been cut out!

Then here was the last picture i took. this is with the pipe just very tack welded in place to ensure a good fit etc.

After that he took the section off the car, welded it proper and then welded on an exhaust hanger. He followed it up by welding 2 bits of exhaust hanger across both seams to give it some extra strenght. i forgot to take a picture of that bit ill try when i look under the car.

Here is a video of it on tick over + revs. Car had just been run for 20 mins before i turned her on.

i dont know why air filter was mentioned, but covers and undertrays are on a list of advisories testers can select on the mot system. just covers our rears as we cant remove said covers to test bits under them

Let me get mine done and I will report back. see what you think first.

Got it done this morning for £60 all in. First impression are a much nicer exhaust note, much deeper with a little burble on overrun but not to loud or chavy. An easy and inexpensive mod which would recommend to anyone.

What sort of places are you guys going to? Any big names or just your local garage?

Have a word with Will at P-torque, they are based in Walsall. Best to give him a call as he's had a couple of issue with his email being hacked.

I suspect you will end up getting a Stage 1 map at the same time too!

Cheers rob will call tmz

Just been to two garages regarding the middle silencer removal and both said that if they had a car in for mot they would fail it for being over the manufacturer sounds levels so they didn't want to do it...

I live in a little town with about 6 garages some how lol do I need to find someone that doesn't do mots...

Sry I know I have the wrong car, but I have had it done on my 1.4 and as everyone has said it only effects the noise not the emission so come MOT time you should be fine unless you get a right tight ass doing it. But here's a little clip I did of mine just to give you an example of the out come

Sound a lot better on the road with gear changes on WOT at around 3500-5000rpm were you get dsg farts:D lol
