You can do that, dont think it makes a huge difference, Fit a 3" downpipe with sportscat that will add a deeper sound, I know because i did it on my LCR

One chap (Graham i think?) removed the back box and attached the rear cover onto the new pipe...seemed to give a lower burble but it may be easier to remove the middle box? Will this still pass an MOT.

I got mine done on my Leon FR 2.0tfsi yesterday - its made a diffrence its opened the exhaust up abit, you can hear it more now and i think its a nice little mod that you can do to not make it too loud so i think you shoudl give it a go

had this done today at john ashley in walsall, middle box removed and stainless pipe welded in. welds are nice and neat, and they couldd not be more helpfull, the mrs says it feels more responsive and the exhaust note has changed abit but not chavvy at all. cost 55 quid

A guy local to me had his mid silencer removed for a straight pipe and he says its made a nice difference to the sound, only cost him £20 too, thats with the same Longlife supplier that did my mufflerectomy

My car is in for MOT and front tyres in two weeks and was thinking about having this done while its there. I cant see it making any difference to an MOT, it will just be like having a non-resonated exhaust system fitted.

It wont effect emissions etc and the noise increase isnt enough for it to fail for being too loud

Saw you the other day going north on the M42 just before Shirley....couldn't miss your car even when I was on the other side of the motorway!

Would be worth finding out how you get on with the silencer removal and the cost!

This sounds like an interesting mod, I want a little more noise so this may be worth doing,

looking at putting an air intake kit on plus this will make the car sound much better I think.

Just need to find somewhere round the Nottingham area to take the car. Would love a full exhaust but cant quite afford one at the moment so this would do till I could.

Any body know a place in or near Nottingham that will do a decent job of this at a reasonable cost.

Just had a quote off one company at 120+ VAT

I paid £65 for mine with a lifetime warranty froma proper exhaust company ,

when i picked it up i wasnt that impressed to be honest but as the days went by i think it got louder and better, i think its the best £65 spent as its not too loud and its sounds really good and does make the diffrence , also i think the car feels more responsive now but im not sure .

So anyone think of doing it ? i think you should go for it you wont be dissapointed !
