k03s questions...

Hi all,

Last week I bought a Mk3 Ibiza Cupra in Imperial Blue, 44k on the clock and completely standard.

I've been looking over the forum for a while now to see what sort of upgrades people tend to go for and the k03s seems like the best place to start.

Therefore, I'm thinking of applying the following mods in this order:

1) Uprated panel filter and Forge DV
2) Revo stage 1 remap
3) 3" downpipe, 100 cell race cat and milltek cat-back exhaust
4) k03s
6) FMIC
5) Stage 1 remap again or go to stage 2?

My questions therefore are:

1) Am I applying these mods in a sensible order?
2) Other than the exhaust gaskets and bolts listed in the Mk3 FAQ under k03s, do I need to buy anything else before fitting a k03s?
3) Where is the best place to look for a k03s?
4) Have I missed anything completely trivial?

All input welcomed, many thanks

Get the FMIC before the K03s, and you wont need another stage 1 remap, so your free to upgrade to Revo Stage 2 for £50 to make the most of the KO3s if you want too.

as above, unless you go for a custom remap where they won't charge much to tweak the map.

scrap yards/forums/ebay are the main places to get a k03s.

I found ebay.com a good place to find reasonably priced ones. I paid $150 for the turbo and $60 for shipping...so only about £100 delivered :)

OMG! A newcomer actually searched the forum before asking billions of questions. Nice one mate!

As above really, search all teh VAG forums for a used k03s and you'll be able to pick one up for £150. Infact i've arranged to buy one off someone from ClubGTI but i dont think i need it yet so if you want his number, pm me. Its from a Golf and he says its in excellent condition and wants £150.

Cheers guys. £150 seems like a fair price, I'm impressed how much you can do with these engines for a reasonably small amount of money.

If I already had the full exhaust system and FMIC fitted with remap, does a k04 conversion still require a lot more work, i.e. internals upgrades?

I posted a k03s vs k04 thread up a while back, seems k04 is quite a bit more hassel than the k03s, but even so its not an overly hard conversion to do. Still no internal mods required.
