Her 8 yr old 100k miles Megane Coupe was getting on a bit so went car hunting yesterday with her.

Told her the world that was SEAT (same as VW/Audi but much better VFM) and took her to our nearest dealer.

Sat in the new Ibiza....not bad!

Looked at brochure and prices...wow well within £12k budget.

Went to Renault dealer also to look at new Clio. Less euipment/lower model and more expensive. Hubby didn't like the look either - bit too girly while he would not mind driving the Ibiza at all.

So after having a chat last night about it all, decided to get the car cleaned this morning and take it to the SEAT dealer for valuation.

3 hours later (they only had 2 sales peeps in and was mighty busy with lots of people coming in!) and after having a drive of a FR TDI 130 ON OUR OWN (how nice is that they trusted us lol) she was mighty impressed with the oomph of the TDI motor, basically loved it and so wanted one.

Question was...buy new TDI 100 Sport with couple of options OR buy this pre reg FR TDI 130 (06 spec) with 50 miles on the clock that they had in the colour she wanted.

Umming and arring a bit, and wrangling an extra £250 off the sticker price, and getting mats/tank of diesel thrown in....the deal was struck! Works out at a 2k saving compared with new one!!!

So next week she will be the happy owner of a 06 Mk4 Ibiza FR TDI 130 in Black Magic. Hubby now gutted she has more power in her car (he has A4 TDI 115)

Will post some pics up when she gets hold of it.

Good work eh. Wonder if SEAT will give me any commission.

hehe

I was impressed with how the thing picked up speed tho. Think it might even give my GTI a run for its money on in gear acceleration.

nah they still have the Cupra with 20vt power but it's £14.5k i think and the TDI 160 is £15.5k.

She had a budget to stick to and this pre reg example fitted the bill perfectly.
Lucky it was FR model despite 06 spec it'll keep her happy for a good few years.

The TDI makes a lot of sense I have to say.

The brochure says RFL for the Cupra 20VT is £190  which is a lot of dosh.

The TDI 130 is only £115 + excellent mpg.

So I can see why everone opts for the TDI these days especially with the increased performance offered by chipping.

I've warned her about trying not to bash it into things but we'll see.

Not gonna opt for the £200 Supaguard option (I've got it on mine but think its a rip off really).

Hopefully being a new car they'll take care of it a bit more than the megane which had dings and big scratches on all panels.

you might as well have her spend 200 quid on getting it detailed instead of the super guard imo
