Evening all,

Just got my car back from Peter Stockhill in hull to have some bodywork repair done to the drivers side skirt and as you do (or as i do anyway) i checked the mileage before i left my car there. You cant trust anyone these days.

Went there tonight to pick it up and noticed that it had magically driven 11 miles somewhere.
Now I could understand if the car was booked in for some engine work and they needed to test out the car for any faults etc.. But why do they feel the need to drive it 11 miles when its in for a bodywork repair?

I dont care if it was 1 mile, or 100 miles. The point is they've driven it somewhere when it didnt need to be driven..

Fustrates me, Sorry but needed to get it off my chest, I hope this is also in the right section on the forum.

Anyone else experienced this?

I assume that you discussed this with them before you accepted the car?

Then demanded to know who took the car without consent? Then called the police to investigate the TWOC'ing of your car?

If you did nothing & walked away......

other than getting them to sign 'receipt' for the car and stating the mileage at the point of drop off how would you prove anything though?

I take a note of mileage for my own reference and if it changed i'd bring it up with them and obviously inform them they've lost a customer and whatever else but from calling the police, I doubt they'd be at all interested?

I rang them up when I got home, as I just wanted to get the car back in my hands.
They told me that anywork they do regarding bodywork is not done on-site, but to a near by garage which they 'supposidly' have and it got taken there.
I always thought they carried out the bodywork at their garage as ive seen many cars in their having work done, but a friend of mine also said that he's known for them to take the cars away to get repaired, so i guess thats whats happened in this case.. Can just never be too sure with dealers these days.

So false alarm on this occasion i guess..

alot of maindealers dont do their own paint work, so car have to be driven there, most of the cars we have in clock up one mile, due to going to and from our repair to paint shop

definitely worth getting them to agree and record the mileage when you take it in though. Id hate to think mine had been thraped by any boy racer other than me
