hi, i have bought a lead from ebay and downloaded the software from ross-tech but im not sure ive downloaded the correct software!! i have a 2004 leon cupra and dont know what software i need as i dont understand hex and all that, i downloaded 409 but either its the wrong software or i just havent used it correctly as whenever i go on any of the functions such as engine, central locking etc it comes up with controller not responding or something similar!
any help would be appreciated and i have used the search button but nothing about this.

just managed to get it working on my dads laptop (xp) a lot of the functions just come up with 'no response from controller' and others come up with 'need activation code'.
i did a control module check and a few codes came up but i did not let it scan all through.
they are....
engine - 11510
abs brakes - 0022017
auto hvac - 00041
instruments - 05424
can gateway - 00006

some may say lala land....
if they are fault codes it will say in red
Fault Code blah blah blah

mine also failed to read some codes on the auto scan as not the full version, only the ABS failed to be read and after reading the airbag notice after ticking i un-ticked as quick as made no sense in english to me
mine is as sig says so not sure if petrol will react differently

To use alot of the functions you must buy the licence from ross-tech ( around $100 )

Rich, have you reviewed the manual? There is going to be some confusion for you since you are running an old version but the manual will give you a good idea of how VAG-COM (VCDS) operates.

Fault codes are listed as fault codes. I'm not sure where you pulled the number "0022017" for the ABS from but that does not appear to be a fault code. Perhaps that is the module soft coding?

In version 409, fault codes were not shown in red as was suggested. Only the newest versions show fault codes in red and then only on CAN based diagnostic cars.

Start by going into [01 Engine] [02 Fault Codes] and see what VAG-COM reports there. Then we will know your set up is actually working.
