Hi all,

Ive just picked up a Leon Cupra TDi.
It has a SeatCupra.net sticker in the window so I wondered if anyone knows who used to own it.
Its KT04 XSW and is in gunmetal grey.
I would be interested to know what the previous owner did as it has astronomical miles on it!!

So nice to own one of these again though after my last one sadly passed away.

Needs a bloody good service and a few bits and bobs doing.
I'd like to replace the steering wheel as it is pretty worn. Does anyone have one for sale or know how much they are new (without airbag)

Thanks

Tim

OK, I've tracked the previous owner down and its Pat J.
Pat please get in touch if you are still posting on here. Id be interested to know some of the things you have done to the car.

I'm planning to replace a lot of the bushes and bearings etc and I see you have done some already.

Thanks

Tim

Ok are you sitting comfortably.;)

It has had an upsolute re-map 192 BHPish. Green cotton air filter. Weitec lowering springs. Pro-flex bushes in front anti-roll bar mounts and the drop links had a new passenger side front wheel bearing, new engine and gearbox mounts and new dog-bone mount with a street rubber bush not polyurethane as the one I had fitted was to stiff.
Obviously the aftermarket alloys and Toyo tyres. Ialso had the EGR stripped and cleaned.
It was due a service when I sold it but it had been Seat dealer serviced prior to me getting it and I had the cam belt changed when I got it, as well as new glow plugs and all the filters changed including the pollen filter and oil and filter changed regularly. The A/C has only just been serviced as well. The front door speakers have been upgraded as there were none in it when I got it.

Hope that gives you a bit of an insight to what I've done.

Thanks for that!

It's interesting that you did the front passenger wheel bearing as I was going to change that. When I was on the motorway at 60mph+ it makes a noise when turning left. Hmmm willl need to rethink that one.
The other problem I had when I picked it up was getting some feedback at low speed from the brakes. I suspect its the front driver sied ABS sensor butIm not sure. Did you notice anything like that?

thanks for your responses

There was a little play in the passenger steering link arm but I was told it was not anything to worry about. The ABS sensor on the passenger front was changed prior to me getting it. The brakes were only recently stripped and checked.

The brakes thing has got much worse now. I drove round my street yesterday and put the brakes on and the ABS bit back wildly! At least it got bad enough to throw a light on the dash so I VAG-COM'd it and its the passenger side ABS sensor. Looks like it has worn through at some point and been repaired with crimp connectors. Think Ill try cut soldering and heat shrinking them as a more permanent solution. Does anyone know an easy way to get the actual sensor out in case that is the issue? I tried to remove one the other day to clean and it is jammed solid in the leg.
