Hi, am a new member, just signed up since I bought a 2001 (Mk3) Ibiza 1.4 S yesterday (my very first car), and theres a few things that are bugging me about it...

a) The outside temp sensor appears to be faulty, as it's showing about 5-10 degrees C less than it actually is. This stops the air con working (only works +5 degrees).

b) one of the bulbs has gone (passenger side light, and it appears the battery needs to be removed to get to this, is this correct, and if so, tricky?

c) i've been looking on this site, and people seem to be raving about this VAG-COM software, is it really all that? I know for £20 off "a popular auction site" its not like its pricey, but will it fix things or just tell you about them?

d) theres no haynes manual for the car, is there anything similar that people can recommend?

cheers to everyone, looks like a pretty decent and helpful community on here, hope some people can help!

i cant help you with everything there, but have basically the same car.

The sidelight can be done without removing the battery as i have done it, just expect to lose a bit of skin.

I think that the VAG-COM is not really necessary for a 1.4 but i may be wrong

Also there is some sort of e-manual that was made for it, i think they can be picked up off fleabay... but no haynes manual eixists

hope some of that helps

a) its more than likly the sensor thats up the chute, Not that expensive from the dealers and if your any good with a soldering gun you can fit it yourself.

b) You proberly can fit with the battery in situ, but ive always found it easier to take it out saves alot of hassle and knuckle flesh.

c) Vag-com wont physically fix your car, but it will be able to give you the erroe codes which you can match to the codes on either the ross tech site or in the vag com section on here, and that should point you in the right direction of whats wrong. I have a copy myself its sved me a couple of hundred sheets. If you think about its £60 at least for a diognostics check, so it saves you that and half the time for things like sensors you can fit them yourself.

d) your right there is no haynes for the mk3. Just get yourself one for the mk2 alot of the things are the same. If not just ask on here :D

Hope that helped.

David.

Hi mate welcome to the site! Youll get loads of useful advice on here, people from all sorts of backgrounds. Ive recently replaced my sidelights, u dont need to remove the battery. Theres 2wire clips holding a cover over the back of the front lights, Simply pull them over to the side to remove and u have easy access to the bulbs! The Haynes manual for the '93-'99 ibiza will be about 80% the same as our model, otherwise the gurus on here are a lifeline! Hope this helps!
