Hi all,

I have just bought a 2004 (54 reg) SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 and have a couple of questions...

1) Only the right-hand mirror has a wide-view section on the outside edge. Should the left-hand mirror also have this?

2) The audio player has a CD6 button but I don't appear to have a multi-changer in the glove box. Was this not standard on the 54-reg Cupra R?

Thanks in advance,

Rob.

my 04 LCR only has the wide view part on the offside mirror too, but it does have the autochanger in the glovebox collecting dust. i've put a sony headunit in to replace the original tape player.............................. who had the bright idea to put a tape player in a hot hatch in 2004 for crying out loud?

Looks like they must have come to that conclusion for the 54 plate cars! Sadly they also took the CD changer away. I might look into prices....

Another question:

In the boot (with the spare wheel) are a selection of tools. According to the manual there should be a screwdriver and an open-jaw spanner. Should these two items come with the Cupra R as they are missing from my car? Not that they are overly-essential - I'm just being anal here! :)

Mine came with the jack, locking wheel nut, towing ring, wire hook and wheel bolt spanner.

Yes, yes - I was just wondering!! :p

No, it's a brilliant step up for me - coming from a 1997 fiesta 1.4 to the Cupra R is just worlds apart. The power is so effortless. You've got three slow cars in front of you and you can clear the whole lot of them in seconds! Pretty amazing stuff.

And I'd say much much better than the Civic Type R that I was also test driving when choosing this car. With the Civic you have to rag it to get any performance out of it! The equivalent of the Leon at 3000rpm is about 6000 in the Civic!

Side light

Maintenace question:-

I have a blown side light on the drivers side (which means it's accesible). I know the manual seems to suggest taking it to a garage to get it replaced but it looks simple enough (I used to do them all the time on my fiesta).

Once I've taken the cover off the back of the headlight assembly do I just pull the sidelight bulb out. There doesn't seem to be anything else holding it in (no clips etc.) - however, I don't want to damage anything yanking it out!

Thanks.

Yeah, just pull it out with a bit of a wiggle. They are bit of a bitch to get out though.

On your earlier "contents of my boot" post, make sure you have a small pair of tongs for pulling off the nut covers.
