I've had the car a week and so many problems.

Hi.
After a decent test drive, apart from noisy brakes,i decided to buy an 02 leon1.6s.with 45k miles.
I picked the car up and it looked immaculate, and had been given a full service, mot and 102 point check with new discs and pads all round to cure
the brake noise, plus a dozen other new bits including a horn.
Within 30 mins the emission light had come on and the power dropped.
I rang the (Seat) dealer and they booked me in for 12 days time.
Since then the drivers footwell has filled up with water and washing the car
1 week after buying it has revealed faded and white areas(looks like overbuffing) and dozens of deep pit marks on the roof almost to the metal.
None of the paint problems were visible when i picked the car up so seem to have been covered up with some wonder polish.
Now i've just noticed the spoiler brake light is held on with double sided sticky
tape.
Do i take the 30 day exchange option or ask for a refund if that is even an option?
Any advice welcome.

Take it back to the dealer, explain what you are not happy with and, what you would like done about it. Politely of course. Explain the ar you have bought is not suitable for the purpose for which it was sold. i.e. emissions light problem means is doesn't go properly, and taking a bath in the car is not acceptable either.

when you say deep pits in the paint, do you have any pictures? If they are that bad no polish is going to cover it up (slight swirls and scratches, yes, gouges? no).

Comedians. Take it back and complain like hell.

Presume you bought it from a main dealer? You get lulled into a false sense of security that a main dealer car is going to be fine and don't check it over as thoroughly as you would a private sale or one from a back street garage, truth is they are no different, they sell whatever they get traded in. The cars just cost more and come with a warranty (which is in a lot of cases useless).

Sorry for the doom and gloom, I'd take it back within the exchange period though, be interesting to hear their reaction. Keep us posted.

O.K.
I took the car in this morning and spoke to the salesperson who sold me the
lemon SORRY! i mean car and stated my case.
They didn't say no to exchange or refund but would like the chance to put
it right and have given me a courtesy car.
I went over the faults with the guy in the workshop and when i pointed out the light blue patches as opposed to the proper colour(imperial blue) at first he said he couldn't see them even though they stood out a mile but eventually he admited they were there.
The pits on the roof, and there are dozens of them look like maybe the car was parked under a tree for long periods and bits have hit the car or wet leaves have been allowed to sit on the roof and the water has eaten into the paint,
you can actually feel the depth of pitting with your nail.
No doubt they'll ring me soon, let's hope the news is good.
I'll keep you posted.

good luck with it mate, stick to your guns and don't budge an inch until you're happy with the result!

Pit marks i dare say are bird lime, your best off getting rid of it and getting another whilst you can, you'll wish you had six months down the line.

is there any level of warranty on the work they are going to do? ask them exactly HOW they will be looking to remediate issues as you don't want a blow over respray. make sure any work is warrantied and get it in writing if you go ahead.

better still pull out. if they are happy to fix it they were aware of the issues prior to selling.

be clear that you will allow them to carry out the work, but if the repairs carry you over the refund window and you are still not happy, you want the option to still give it back.
