Is your air conditioning cold?

Since the heat wave has started, my AC isnt really working that well. It blows out coolish air, certainly not cold. But when the outside temperatures drop to around 20, the AC'd air becomes really cold.

Is this normal, or does my air conditioning need servicing?

Thanks

it should definitely be extra cold. Run it past your garage and see what they say. It might just be a little glitch.:)

I read in the Telegraph (Honest John) that AC needs frequent use in order to keep the joints lubricated, otherwise they tend to dry up, which reduces the cooling capability.

Same as mine... Yet more money and I have the same symptons of the orginal post. Is it that it's just a crap system?

I need to get my climate control serviced etc. as I don't think it's been done yet

The AC on the Leon should be VERY cold.

I use my car everyday here in Saudi Arabia and for the last 4 months its been above 40 C most of the time, occasionally seeing 50. 5 minutes in the car and the Climate on 22, the fan starts to back off.

VAG air conditioners are very good. Have the AC gas pressure tested, and refill if necessary. could also be a dodgy compressor clutch.

I took my car to W.J. King seat coz the climate was not blowing too cold.

The car is only 2 years 9 months old and the warrantee expires in October 2006.

The dealer the said that my car was low on coollant and as such needed regassing. The guy who attended to me then told me that i would have to pay £80 to regass the car. (At this time he had fully discharged all the gass in my aircon).

I declined his request and reminded him that the car was still under warrantee but he insisted that it was not a warrantee job and had to be paid for.

So i left and went to an independent aircon specialist but the specialist told me that if the car is under warrantee the aircon needs to be regassed by the dealer free of charge.

Previous owner from new was from Lincoln and i'm sure he never used the aircon that much
The independent specialist then said he could regass my car but it would be like wasting money. He suspects a leak

I think the dealer trying to buy time so as to relinquish responsibility so my warrantee runs out so they can nail me with stealers charges.
Help

Regas all the way! I had warm air con towards the start of the summmer, and when the gas was removed they told me I had one tenth of the refrigerant needed to cool the car, one full regas later, cold as Siberia!! APS, Brackley did mine, £45+vat, which I thought was cheap.

as myles said, gassing does make a huge difference, but make sure you don't have a leak first so you dont waste gas

Same problem in mine as well!! Took it back to my local seat garage cause it is still under warranty, diagnosed with a faulty high pressure valve, valve getting changed and system getting regassed today under warranty.

I can see my breath in mine :D (and no I don't have halitosis)

Nearly always on LOW and never goes above 22

super duper cold as ice in the pug, so much so that i have to turn the temp up after a while

but i did spend nearly £600 getting it sorted in May, new condensor, new compressor pipes and oilo seal, re-gas and recirc anti-bacterial clean!!!!
