Its normal to be higher than 90 in some conditions but it may be worth having it looked at. If it holds at the same temp when run for over 5 minutes it may be something minor, if it drastically changes temp after a short period from cold then something is up.

as far as i was aware..the temp should sit on 90c no matter what.

Iv give me car a good hammering, quite frequently, and iv never seen it rise over 90c. Mind u, i dont spend much time looking at it.

Temp should not go higher than 1/2. I've had my car for 20,000 km's now in Saudi arabia and the water temp gauge has never gone above 1/2.

P.S. heat here is 45-50 degrees in the daytime. + my car is a turbo, not a 1.4

i'd have a mechanis look at it - might be the start of something (i dont mean to worry you but it's better to be careful)

The water pump impeller is prone to breaking..Maybes its started to break up, hence temp rising..

If its the case, replce the impeller with a brass metal impeller. Westec stock them. ;)

90. Except when my water pump broke. This happened gradully with the temp getting slightly higher over a period of time. Initially it looked like it was only a fuse - so this was changed, and it was better for about 1 week, then started climbing again. Eventually it got to the warning light and the water pump got changed - problem solved.

Oh. Just t o add...I could drive a few miles, and it would maintain the temp for most of the time, but gradually increase the longer I drove. After about 4 miles it was above the 90.

well i have sussed out when it happens now

if i drive get the car upto 90 then turn the engine off , then start the engine again it creeps above the 90 mark then when it goes above 90 the fan cuts in and it maintains this level , when the engine cools and i start up again it hits 90 and stays there:wtf:
