Is my clutch going?

Hi all,

since last thursday my clutch has been feeling different. For example, before thursday if I started her up cold, the clutch would be quite 'bity' and the biting point would be really defined.....however, since thursday, my clutch feels much less bity....its biting but its not as noticeable as before, and everything feels much smoother.....

I am concerned that this is a sign of my clutch going out...I don't really want to have to pay for a new one!!

Anyone know what this could be?

Are there any 'tests' I can do to see if the clutch is slipping or wearing out?

Really could do with some advice please! lol.

I don't have a local mechanic which I know well enough to trust, so I know if I go to a garage they'll say I need a new one anyway!

Ok thanks. Did all these tests and they were fine.

However, took it to a local garage today and they said that the clutch pedal is quite new (and the pedal box), the cable is fine so the only thing it could be is the clutch....they're going to ring me with prices tomorrow....how much is a clutch usually including fitting? Has anyone else had their coop have a new clutch?

Just going through the same issues now mate. Looking at an uprated Sachs one fitted for mine is £800

However a standard is around £350 fitted, and a Cupra one would be around £450 fitted.

However mine is a MK4, MK3's i think after looking around are a shade cheaper.

ok thanks mate.....will have to wait and see what they come up with tomorrow...was thinking of selling my cupra soon as well! But now I'm having a new clutch fitted I'm having second thoughts....will post an update tomorrow.
