Is a jabba sport remap worth the extra money

Hi Guys

Been reading the forum for the last two hours and although no direct answer to my question been great to see how much info you can get from a bit of time and effort. I have just recently purchased a Leon Cupra R (225) and given i've just come out of a 200bhp ibiza fr feel i need to get it remapped to get the grin back on my face and seems to be the best £ for power option. My new LCR doesn't feel very torquey and really want that back.

My main query is with all the remaps available, is it worth spending £300 quid on a remap that jabbasport claim may take it up to 265bhp and improve the torque by the same difference, or will a remap that some people like more-bhp who for £199 can take it to 254bhp. I decided to go for a standard car as oppossed to one that had already been modded as there seem to be far too many cars with dodgy remaps and people adding mods in the wrong order which makes them a bit pointless. Is it possible to get a nice linear map rather than the kick in the back followed by instant toque death which makes the higher end of the rev range a bit flat and boring or do I just get given what I am given?

Its going to be running on completely standard parts for a little while after ,which appears to be absolutely fine, from reading the threads it looks like my next mods will be the d/v and some type of silicon inlet thingy ( sorry, not a techy), a new filter and maybe a coil pack very shortly after if it doesn't like the map.

If my gains aren't what i'd hoped for will the addition of the next mods mentioned above be likely to get more from my remap once they are fitted a few weeks after?

Any advice or experience of a reliable remapping company for less than £300 quid would be lengendary - I live in north London, but am passing peterborough where jabba the hut is based next week and was going to get it booked in then.

will keep you all posted on the out come, just like many I am not cash rich and once done, i can't afford to change anytime soon.

One last question - would you rather be attacked by one tiger sized duck or 10 duck sized tigers????

peace out
Thanks and sorry for the long message.

Jabba have been going years, as have the cars theyve mapped. They also do big turbo conversions so your safe with their experience.
If its their custom map you can have it as linear as you like... but all the maps ive had from them have been progressive rather than just a kick in the back.
Cant comment on the cheaper maps as ive not run one.

Oh and the duck as one fresh loaf of bread and youll be friends again. :D

Can't remember how much the map was, 380 ish I think. I put an uprated replacement filter in the standard air box and uprated to a forge 007 dump valve. The standard are renown to fail and not hold boost so that is a must really. Jabba do have a very good name ;-)

Just had my previously standard LCR mapped with a Jabba map (Through J-Tech in Reading) and I cant sing its praises enough. The guys there said that the car seems to be one of the stronger ones theyve mapped, and its just as driveable as before, if not more so, but mid-range is awesome!

I've not done any upgrades bar the JR cone filter, but will be getting a Forge 008 and a silicone inlet when funds allow (although I seem to be throwing all my money at my road bike at the min), and I'm also going to do the N249 bypass.

Should keep me happy for a while whilst I do brakes and suspension upgrades anyway!

theres people running 300+ on the standard valve so as long as its in good condition you dont need an uprated dv

From having three different 1.8 20v turbos over the last 10 years all with different levels of tuning, I would recomended replacing the dump valve if your going to map it. The standard plastic ones are prone to fail all be it being one of the weakest parts on the boost side of it.

Edewer - how much did you pay at J-tech? I'm base in the same are and was going to go with Storm Developments in Aldermaston, but may go for jabba if the price isn't too much different.

Yeah so you said, funny that jabba have actually reccomended using the stock valve on big turbo set ups yet you claim they cant hold boost.
Diaphram operates with less resistance, no servicing required and wont stick unlike a piston valve.

If the stock valve is in good condition theres no need to change it but if you know otherwise please educate me. Do you know what the stock valve can take in terms of pressure? Can you explain why it works ok on my car?

:DCheers guys....any advice is always appreciated. Think my verdict is go for the remap and change the dump valve if and when it goes pop as everyone seems to have had a different experience. Its a well looked after car so fingers crossed no extra expense quite yet - was a bit disappointed jabbasport didnt get back to me, unlike celtic tuning (£100 cheaper) and vagtech (revo). Still deciding if the jabba is worth the extra £100.....celtic claim the same power gains and will do it at my house! Quite fancy making the trip though coz then i have to drive back......
