Where's the best (cheapest) place to get a proper iPod adapter for my Leon?

I've got a transmitter thing, but it's a bit lame to be honest, I'd rather a cable into the stereo - my (standard) stereo is the CD changer one (without the changer) and I've seen that you can get them, but where from??

Cheers!

Cheapest = FM Transmitter, as you have already got.

Best = Denison ICELink, not cheap though.

Google is your friend. Search for 'Leon iPod adaptor' or 'Leon AUX input' or a specific model name, like the Denison.

I changed my headunit yesterday as was advised the only way i could use my ipod was to use the fm transmiter, but was told the quality can be poor.

Not true. The Dension is a very popular choice on here.

The easiest way to do it, without plugging in an adaptor etc. is with an FM transmittor but it's not the only way.

As above, you were told a lie I'm afraid. There are other options as well as the Denison solution, as a couple of aftermarket manufacturers make AUX inputs that do a good job.

But can you work the ipod through the standard stereo with these options.
I wanted to beale to leave the ipod in the glove box and be able to work it from my head unit.

FM Transmitter is ok, but can be very iffy with power.

iPod - well, I'm vain and although it's expensive and not the most user friendly, it **is** the coolest MP3(!) player on the market.

I'll do another search and see what I turn up.

Have you got an auto changer? if so you need the non pre wired one, if you don’t, as I had (single CD head unit) you need the pre wired one and that causes some problems as the catalogue only shows the one that can be plugged into the cable the CD auto changer plugs into!!. If you have a word with Halfrauds they can help but get them in the week so that can ring connects2 who will order the right one.

Hope this helps

does the connects 2 jobby have the facility to charge/control from the head unit or is it just a 3.5mm jack plug. ie plug it into iplop then you have to select tracks direct and it runs off its own battery? I've looked on the connects2 website and it ain't very clear.. or am I just a gommo

I own the Dension kit and I absolutely hate it. A lot of MK4 Ibiza owners also get a lot of trouble from it. Mine will crash the iPod after 2 tracks and will discharge the iPod battery if left plugged in while at work. My old Kenwood iPod kit wasn't the fanciest system in the world but it worked, so I think I might go back to that.

I would buy an aux in cable or a Connects2 kit from eBay, or make a lead yourself with some wire and connectors from maplin and the connector from VW. The one you need has the blue square 8 pin connector.

Connects2 is just a jack plug no charging or control and it cost about £49

Sell the ipod and replace it with a Headunit with a memory stick slot in or similar - a sony gigapanel jobbie?

You're only going to leave that fashionable piece of rubbish in the glovebox anyway, might as well make your music collection more permenantly installed? :)

Yeh, but I use my iPod a lot when I'm flying or on the train - can't exactly carry the head unit with me on the train now can I?

An I change my car about once a year so that's definetly a no-go....

:p

Dension IceLinks and Connects2 leads are transferrable from car to car, all you need is a replacement lead from the manufacturer.

You can buy my Icelink if you want, it obviously works on MK1 Leons but not MK4 Ibizas!
