Has anyone installed the Dension ipod link kit supplied by SEAT? I have sold a couple but had them returned as 'not working properly'. Id be interested to hear opinions and experiences of these kits . . . .

I installed the Dension GW15VC1 last August (not the Seat supplied one, but the one that puts ID3 info on the large MFD).

Over the Xmas period it has stopped working, no MFD support and no sound (and yes it still connected properly).

I can;t help thinking it had something to do with the dealer who was trying to diagnose my heated seat problem a week or 2 before, they had it hooked up to their machine for over an hour trying to clear the fact the car registered it had a 6 disc changer when it didn't (the dension does mimick the changer).

Saying that it has always been a bit buggy, being tempremental with the display if you turn the engine on and off etc.

Actually is it possible to retro fit the genuine seat ipod adapter onto the existing stereo ?

I also have the MFD due to bluetooth if that helps ?

I had one in My 05 Tolly and it was fine so it will work in MKII Leons as well, connected from the back of the radio and into the glove box. I thought I had sold it on the bay but found it the christmas clearup. So it's for sale again :). It's only the cable though I never bought the cradle as I did not like the idea of the iPod being on show or the cradle.

That is what I have.
Does anyone know if you can get a kit to display the I pod info on the mfd but still uses the dock under the seat?

As far as I i know the MDI interface is a lead or something that links to the new touchscreen sat-navs and allows them to browse the albums and artists and all that on the ipod.

Hope that's of some use David,

Found one on eBay,

Says this about it!

The MEDIA-IN multi-device interface is a glovebox mounted unit which enables external audio sources, such as iPods, to play through the vehicle radio system. Its key benefits are:

MP3 players, iPods, USB sticks, AUX cables can all connect to radio via MEDIA-IN
Output via car loudspeakers
Skip and scroll through tracks using the radio controls
Displays music track titles, album names and playlists
Can only be fitted in conjunction with RCD 310, RCD 510 (NOT 1K0035195AA) and RNS 510 (NOT 1T0035680)
Adapters available for use with different audio sources (iPod, USB, mini-USB)

Kit is supplied with Ipod link cable,to use other devices additional cables must be bought, please ask for availablility

000051446A Mini USB adapter £30
000051446B USB adapter £30
000051446D Jack-plug adapter £30

MEDIA-IN is not compatible with RCD 310/510 and RNS 510 fitted before 1 June 2008 because of software changes. Unit must be fitted by qualified technician, specialist dealer coding may be required depending on setup.

But at about £170:-o it seems a bit expensive for a lead:whistle:

Lol what ever happened to good old CD changers!;)

Also ignore the must be after June 2008 part, my unit was built in 2007 and works fine after a firmware upgrade

tried to fit the new Dension/SEAT ipod kit to my own car hoping to play a while and sort this out, but fell at the first fence - I have the aux socket and had to unplug its connection to the head unit in order to plug the kit in. Result? Dead aux socket and bugger all else [:@]
