i have got mines wired into the glovebox. i used a dension plus, which uses the cd changer controls to work through the first five play lists!

Search the site, it's been done loads of times with the factory radio or other.
I have a dension lead you can listen to the first 5 playlists or you can control it all through the ipod, i use it like this as i cant be arsed with playlists..
If you have a Video ipod you can watch videos as well, not recommended at speeds over 100mph....

If ya can solder then its possible, to solder the wires directly to the radio unit. This is only possible if ya have a cd changer. Solder them to C3(iso connection)
# Pin 18 - CDC audio frequency ground
# Pin 19 - CDC audio frequency left
# Pin 20 - CDC audio frequency right - CD changer.
Solder a 3 mm jack for ya ipod.
Record a blanco track for 80 min.
Burn a the blanco track on a cd. Put it in the cd changer, play the cd. Start ya ipod.
Im using it also in my car for a year now, and works great.

Just a suggestion, but when i got my dension i>link cable i did not get the cradle, i just got the lead....Cos i dont know about you but i have a case on my ipod and it would not fit in the cradle without taking the case of each time....
You can still buy a separate holder and use a brodit screw-less dash mounting...

In fact tonight i got out of my car and dropped my ipod on the gravel and stood on it would have been wrecked without the case me thinks.....

I always use my case for the ipod.
Would be nice to fit and easy remove the ipod from the brodit.
I havent got a brodit, but would be kewl.

The little storage space near the gear stick is were mine is professionally installed.....
The Brodit clips are good though my mate had one.........
