I have just read a post in the FAQs, see below;

Factory Fit iPod Connector Functionality

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This question has been asked a few times, so I thought it's worth putting in the FAQ section. Please feel free to add any additonal information.

Connecting the iPod

The factory fit iPod connector is under the drivers seat on U.K cars (not sure if this is the same for other markets). The compartment has a cover so people walking past can't see that the iPod is in there.

A number of different adaptors are supplied to ensure a snug fit of your iPod into the slot. It does warn in the manual that these may scratch your iPod, although I haven't had any issues.

As far as I know the iPod shuffle can't be used with the iPod connector.

Using the iPod

The iPod is treated in the same way as a 6 disc autochanger and is operated by pressing the AUX button on the head unit. CDC will appear in the display when the iPod is playing.

You are allowed to have 5 user defined playlists and 1 which is basically play all tracks.

One tip is to number these 1 to 5 to correspond with the buttons on the head unit. Only the first 5 playlists are accessible.

The track names DO NOT appear on the display on the head unit, just the track number.

The unit only allows you to skip one track at a time, making it difficult to find tracks if the playlist contains a large number of songs.

Hope that this information is of use to people considering this option.

I've just bought an 08 K1 and the optional Ipod connector is not evident, my questions are two-fold;

1. We SEAT retrofit and do this for the £88 they charged to do it as an optional extra?

2. Ideally I would like to have an aftermarket ipod connector installed, one that syncs the playlists / replicates what you would see on your ipod screen. Does one exist that is compatible with the standard Seat Headunit ir is the only option an aftermarket head unit with ipod connector? WHat would you recommend?

I'm currently looking at getting a Dension ice link to go with my new iPhone.

I just want a cradle with a decent connection and and charging but if you have the MFD you can control the full iPod menus through that.

Ok so I guess if I want full Ipod functionality through the stereo I need to go for the expensive MFD3 replacement.

Maybe I'll go with the less expensive ipod adaptor.

Think id rather save for a revo that an mfd3 for now!
