ipod aftermarket cable help pls

hi guys, im not getting anything from the leon mk2 forum. Can you help please?

I have an ipod cable fitted in my 07 cupra, just behind the aux port in the cup holder. i plug this cable into my ipods (touch, nano) and press the cd (either goes to cd or aux) not CDC and dont make any sounds! is this cable meant to do anything?

at a guess you'll need a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo to stereo cable (looks like a headphone jack on both ends) plug that into the ipod and the "aux" input in the second picture.

Oh I bought the car like it, you think the person before did a dodgy fit? When I plug in it don't come up with CDC etc. Just cd and aux.

cd changer at a guess.a lot of cars need an input from the item fitted to tell it its there in order for it to recognise it,connects 2 do a kit for you

I spoke toto the guy who had the car before the cable is now disconnected, he ha an aftermarket unit conncted In the glove box to make the iPod work from the cable, and ideas what this is called and where I can get this unit from?
