Intermittent Central Locking problem

Afternoon all. Looking for some advice on the subject problem if I may.

Central locking pump sometimes appears to operate and sometimes doesn't therefore pretty hit and miss as to whether it is going to function or not. Causes problems at fuel pump as the filler cap is sometimes locked, as it was this morning!!

I can hear the rear pump operating (seems to take longer than normal and runs on occasionally) when all is okay but no sound when central locking isn't working.

When it doesn't work I can still open both front doors from inside by lifting 'opener' tag/switch. This sometimes feels as if I am working against some pressure so expect some 'compression' still in the system.

Does this sound like the pump needs servicing or replacing to those who may have experienced similar or are there common things that go wrong that I can check?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

With my old cordy my central locking totally failed.

things that were investigated are :-

does the pump , pump, well in your case it seems it does.
is there an air leak, ie the pump works but nothing happens.
or in my case the drivers side locking mechanism was knackered, which they said was the main trigger for all the other locks.

Thanks for the reply FR-RUSH, finally got back to this.

Now have the pump out in the boot compartment and just have to tap it after locking the car to get it to stop running. Opens all doors more often than not now so no real drama's.

Happy to have a look at the pump as long as it isn't going to 'ping' all over the place when I remove the cover(s). Anyone any experience of trying to service one of these pumps? Any advice appreciated.

Exact problem is that I can open the doors no problem with the pump running on a little bit but when the car is locked the pump just keeps running until it cuts out. Central locking does not work at this point.

My way round it is to jsut go into the boot and tap it after I have locked the car and the pumpo stops. Not got round to doing anything else yet but have to investigate further in due course.
