Intermittent Boost Problem

Hi guys,

I have a 51 plate, Leon TDi SE 110, standard bar Green Cotton pannel. Just had a service, its about to have a new cam belt, alternator belt and water pump on friday. Its just done 109k.

This has happened three times now, when accelerating up to motorway speeds, full throttle, get to about 3-3.5k rpm, then something happens, and it looses all power, it can maintain speed, but won't accelerate. Just feels like the turbo has gone walkies...

I get no warning lights, nor any odd smells or smoke.

It fixes itself when you turn off the ignition then restart it, and its fine again.

Any idea's would be much appreciated... just worried everytime I need to go on the motorway now....

Hello mate
You are having exactly the same problem as me down to the letter. I have just had my car on a computer and its pointing to the Mass Air Flow Sensor having a short with ground.

The good news is that MAFs cost £81 from a dealer or £30 on ebay and are very easy to replace. Even for a numbskull like me

Hope this helps

would really suggest you dont get a maf off ebay for 30quid.. they wont be bosch genuine items and will break within a day of purchase. mafs are fragile anyway and buying a replica product is asking for trouble imho

Well i wasnt actually telling him to buy a MAF for £30. I was showing him the price range. I have bought a Bosch one for £57 from Euro parts.
