I have for a while now played down what people have said on this forum about MPG. Ive seen most people say "no matter how i drive i get barely over 100 miles to £20" so i drove like a grandad for 4 days and i got a grand total of 148 miles from 20 english pounds! I then put £10 back in the tank and nailed it everywhere and the fuel light came on after just 28 miles.

It just goes to show it really is how heavy you are with your right foot and it isn't the car. I have a 16v GTi Mk2.

£20 will let me do 120-130miles or if I'm nailing it 80odd miles and mine isn't standard!

I'm far from the slowest driver in the world, but then what do you expect? I'm a rally driver, yet to be discovered, who is confined to the roads

My fuel light is on and I've only done 65 miles since I put £20 of Super in the other day! I probably have a maximum of 10 miles left in her! Ahhh well, got to love her!

Short journeys are a killer on mpg keep an eye on your next long mway run.

dont see much more than that outta £45

do a hell of a lot of short and town driving and rarely get out of town in fact rarely get out of 3rd

yeh my 1.4 used to be good in town driving but killed me on the motorway. and now my 2.0l 16v is great on motorway was pushing 42MPG the other day on the m25 ...w00t!
