Integrated SatNav/BT/iPod

My missus is picking up a second hand Altea XL Stylance on the weekend and we're starting to think about how we might tweak it for her.

The car doesn't have a bluetooth kit and only has the standard aux 3.5mm jack so that is the base that I am working from.

My ideal solution is as follows:

SatNav - with the sound routed through the car's head unit for automatic muting and to use the car's speakers

Bluetooth connectivity for the phone - again, routed through the car's head unit for automatic muting and to use the car's speakers. I suppose one way to do this would be to use something like the TomTom 520 which has bluetooth built in

iPod connectivity with the display showing track information and the steering wheel audio controls controlling the iPod

I have a feeling that the resounding response is going to be that I'm going to have to compromise on my wish list owing to things like the number of inputs on the head unit and the lack of factory fitted BT but I'd be very grateful for any advice that anyone may have on how I can get as close to my ideal solution as possible.

Cheers in advance :)

TomTom would be the easiest option.

The Altea will had the wiring in place for the tomtom to connect straight into the radio.

Doesn't the TT 910 have ipod control aswell as bluetooth?

On the face of it, that might be as close as I can get to the ideal solution.

I presume, however, that by doing it this way I wouldn't be able to skip tracks on my iPod with the steering wheel mounted controls?

You could retro fit both ;)

Wow - have just seen your threads - most impressive!

I'm not sure my budget will stretch quite as far as the full retrofit although it certainly looks like a fun project and would surely be the most elegant solution.

I'll read them at length over the weekend and try to get my head around them - if nothing else, it shows me in great detail how to get the trim apart and what the respetive connectors look like.

Have yourself a virtual pint on me!!
