This is the intake temp on my ibiza pd130, in 4th gear. The graph shows Intake temp against engine rpm. Where this graph ends at 4000rpm my car goes into limp mode! Any ideas on the intake temp limit?

Not sure what the limits are mate but I know other cars have seen intake temps of 90C.

You realy need a front mount intercooler. Here is a graph of my mk4 Ibiza Cupra with the standard Seat Sport front mount

Wow thats alot cooler than mine! The engine shuts off about 4200rpm but it didnt get time to log that temp, so i can imagen it must have been in the high 80c or low 90c. I've had alot of problems with limp mode after the remap still can sus whats wrong.

Seat sport fmic are about £300 from sear then Forge do the pipework fore about £250-300 and the are the best fit fmic as they are made by seat to fit the cars.

Same problem as i had. If you buy a FMIC it will solve the problem. Mine was rugularly going into limp mode but since fitting my FMIC its been fine. Id reccomend buying the seat sport one as the forge one is a pig to fit and isnt as good either.

I'd be thinking that the SMIC was clogged / full of oil for those levels of intake temps

Thanks for the help guys, think I have finally found the problem then! It’s been like this for over a year now, and it’s racked my brains! I might have a look at the inter cooler first see if I can find any blockages. How hard is it to get to the standard cooler? Big job?

Sorry to hijack here but question to those who have fittted FMIC after there re map, the difference in inlet temp is quite a lot, so is there much difference in performance after FMIC is fitted?

Yes a noticeable difference however, what i would say is if you havnt got either yet but plan on doing so buy the FMIC first and then have a custom map that takes it into account. will be much more effective.

Good good, well went out and got the re map with out doing any research, and first run out seeing wot it could do straight into limp mode, ha then looked it up and foun d out about FMIC.

So i take it you would reccomend the seat sport one over the forge?

I made the same mistake mate.

Yeh i would recommend the seat sport one. I personally have the forge setup, however it is a nightmare to get to fit right, costs more than the seat set up and isnt as good.
As mentioned before the seat cooler works out around £5-600.

Is it common for the inter coolers to get clogged with oil? What would be the best way to clean it out, with petrol? something that will evaporate.

I have a custom map from motorsport developments in Blackpool. They are a fantastic company over a year down the line they are still helping with my car and even writing a new map for me to be loaded on the coming Monday. All this with no extra charge or hassle, just a shame i cant find the cause of it going into limp mode. I have scanned the forum and see other people reaching these temps with out going into limp mode.

Has anyone got the part number for the seat sport FMIC????

I would say it is the temps, take off your bumper and SMIC and give it a good clean, including all the pipes and once dry throw back on again, that make take the temps down a tad. You could also take out your fog light/grill around the SMIC to help get more air to it whilst waiting for the upgrade
