Hi there lads and lasses, I am in need of soem help, the other day my beloved Ibiza Gti was written off by some stupid old bloke in a van who was paying no attention, it was a competely standard mint condition 1999 8v, I know the insurance will offer me a stupid price for it, I have looked long and hard for a replacement but just cant find a decent one, I will argue they are rare and hard to get hold of so I can get a better deal for it. If possible would a couple of you peeps be able to back me up when I say they are worth more than book price, cheers .

Get on autotrader etc and print off some ads of ones in the same condition as yours etc.....

if you can see any of the same condition, get ones that are just shy of it and claim to them yours was worth more.,.....

and remember you dont have to accept the first offer :)

Just remember, the insurance co isn't there to help you out, it's there to make money for its shareholders.

So keep arguing with them. It might take a few weeks and if you can get evidence from AutoTrader or similar, that will help. Just keep going back to them with as much evidence - e.g. I put some new tyres on last month, I changed the cambelt etc. etc. All that is good evidence as to why your car is worth more than what they've offered you.

When my Audi was stolen 3 days after I bought it for £16k, the insurance co came back with an offer of £15,500. I just sent them 2 adds for S3's going for more than £16k, and a copy of my receipt. They settled at £16k (less excess) eventually.
