Do you guys insure the mods that do on your car? Whether it be tuning or styling? Recently bought my cupra and just about to start moddin it, but im not long turned 20 and the insurance is aleady a bit of a killer! If you were to get hit, or hit the car, does it mean that your insurance becomes void because its modded without letting them know??

is it insured fully comp , or third party , if you have only just turned 20 i wouldnt bother , as insurance is gonna be a killer , how much u paying out of interest , if ur 3rd party the insurance company would never know if u had done any mods , as they dont pay out for your car and would have no reason to want to look at your car , and will only pay out for the car you drive into , as said before , if they did find out they may not pay out for either and the ball would be in your court , but i cant see that myself , im not saying dont declare any mods that you may do or may have already done , im just saying through previous experience , if i didnt have a traders policy i would struggle to insure anything powerfull , so your insurance must be well expensive

I was fully comp and i had a small accident at roughly 20mph. The insrance asked for a full years premium and 800 excess and said the car was only worth 3000 when i payed 5000. They then said it would be about 3000 to fix so it would get written off and i would get like £500 for it. I canceled the claim and fixed it myself its cost me about £200. I would never go fully comp with a car under 5k.

sad reading this thread.

dunno how you could pull an answer from it matty

I know mate, just read through it myself!! Wont be doing any major mods without insuring though!!

At the mo, all i got forge 007p dv (which you cant hear) and green cotton air filter!!

Just that on my old car (vtr) i had everything insured (wheels, lowered, induction kit, exhaust, lights, mirrors) But could afford it!!

Being 20 (july) with a cupra, insurance is a :censored:, at the mo, let alone mods!! :(

Cheers though guys!! Didnt mean to cause arguments either!!

Im also with Ensign through Sky Insurance. Ive got 9 points (all for speeding) and all mods declared and i pay £1100 fully comp plus £200 for mods. They were much cheaper than anyone else, Express insurance wanted £1800 and Adrian Flux wanted £2000 so Sky came out on top by far for me an id recommend them to anyone. Mines up for renewal next month and will most likely continuing with them.

Back to the subject..... YES declare all your mods
