Hi folks

one of the back lights on my instument panel has gone out, also the right hand light keeps going out, think there is a loose connection on it.

Can any1 help as to how I get to the bulbs to replace them?

Do I have to pull the dash to bits to get to them or is there an easier way?

It's a 97 mk1 2l AGG toledo.

Help appreciated with thanks in advance.

got it sorted.

Managed to get to the bulbs. Nice easy job once you know where the screws are located on the dashboard facia panel including the ones in behind the air vents once I worked out how to get them out.

Now all i need to do is replace the bulbs an put the car back together the way it was(hopefully,) Meanwhile, since I have the dashboard panel off I can get easy access to the air flow control for the heater and work out why it's quite hard to turn to the windscreen position and then thats another fault out the way.

The hard thing is to reassembly the speedmeter wire...
open the hood and give the wire a hand...

that part I did find quite awkward but managed in the end. I found that at the area under the hood there was a washer type thingy attached to speedo cable probably to hold the rubber seal in place.

I need to now renew my speedo cable as when I tried to pull the dash out I heard a snapping sound. After I got the dash out I found I snapped the plastic cup on the end of cable at the bit that holds it to the cable and as you can imagine there was a lot of cursing and swearing going on by that point as I'd been trying to figure it out for a few hours by that point :lol:
