I've bought my Leon a couple of weeks ago, and I love it!! First thing I want to do though is install a new stereo.
I have bought a pioneer single din DEH-2800UI and now I need to fit it! I bought what I thought were the necessary adapters, but now I'm stuck:(

I think I need a very basic, idiots guide on how to do it re. Wires.
I would just pay for it but halfords charge £30!!!!!!!! And they've already miss sold me what adapters I need so no way am I going back.
Can anyone help please?

Hi, welcome to the forum.

First of all do you have the right adaptor http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/ct27aa05-aerial-antenna-vag-active-iso-adaptor

If so then it should be a case of unplugging the main connector of the old stereo and plugging the new one in in it's place. Then plug the above adaptor in to the back of the stereo and then the aerial cable from the car into the adaptor. The blue wire on the adaptor then goes to the blue wire on the stereo loom.

Then the last thing is that your permanant live and switched live will probably need swapping around so that the stereo stores your presets and turns off when you turn the ignition off.
If you look at the red and yellow wires coming from the back of the stereo, they will have either spade or bullet connectors on them. You need to unplug both of those (they usually just pull apart, but be sure to pull only the connector and not the wire as it may break) and then swap them around so that the yellow wire goes to the red wire and the red wire to the yellow wire.

I hope that helps, it should all make sense once you have the stereo and the wiring in front of you. :)

With my Sony I didn't need any adapter - it worked out of the box. Sometimes if you put the car details into a website it says you need a certain adapter, but it's usually the same ISO connector most stereos come
With as standard.

Hi there.

I've just swap the OEM Aura stereo from my Leon for a Pioneer DEH5800XBT.
As mentioned above the Leon uses (in my case) a ISO conector which is standard as it comes also on the Pioneer.
Just unplug everything from the Aura Radio. You will have 5 connectors. The ISO ones are only two - usually Black and Brown sockets. The other 3 are specific for the Aura radio and will remain useless and unplugged. You will loose the mini display information on the dash as it became disconnected.
Just plug the 2 ISO plug on the Pionner (with the Pioneer provided adapter) and the aerial and before assemble the radio in just memorize station and general settings and then turn the car off. Turn it back on and see if the radio still have everything memorized. Probably not. In my case I had to swap the red and yellow wires over (as already mentioned before). I use a needle to get to the spade connector from the inside (front facing) to release it because they have a small latch/pin you need to bend for it to came loose and pull the wire from the back of the ISO plug.

In the end, get a good check at the cables as you insert the radio because the room isn't great on the back and you could get something disconnected by mistake.

Hope you can make it. It's pretty easy.

As above it is plug and play. But you DO have to swap the red and yellow wires round or it loses memeory every time.
Takes two secs. If your near me pop round il do it in five mins!
