hi all,

i am currently in the process of setting up a new ICE package in my leon, but seem to have fallen at the first hurdle - the headunit.

my main problem is where to put all the wires! it's just a standard JVC single DIN unit, but the additional harness as opposed to the standard leon headunit has no room to go. i am guessing that many people have overcome this before, so can i ask where is the best place to put all the wires? has anyone had to cut away bits of trim behind to create a pocket for the wires to go to?

also, my headunit has a line input, which i am going to connect to a 3.5mm jack, so i can have iPod as well. does anyone have any good ideas of how i can route the wires through so i can have my iPod sitting loosely in the car for my passengers to control? any pics of previous installs would be greatly appreciated. PM me if best.

much appreciated,
russT

maybe this is a better solution then? can you tell me what the sound quality is like when it comes through the FM converter?

maybe i'll buy one of these and keep the stereo looking stealth (after all it does sound good and is pretty loud). does it need any wire cutting or just plugging in?

russT...

I'm busy doing an iPod install myself.. I was just an idiot, and forgot to get a mount. At the moment (and it doesn't look professional at all, but I'm sure it could with a bit of effort) was in the ashtray (If you're not using it. It's discrete, and out of the way, and passengers can control it as well.

I bought the Dension Ice>Link Cradle etc, that uses the CD Changer input, I've heard it makes a huge difference over the Aerial/FM Modulator. There was a nice point to pull the connector cable through, just below the glove box. I'll try and get you some pics when it's all in and looking good.

no cutting is needed find a good earth in the fuse box department and pull a live from somewhere i took a ignition live so it all go off with ignition (does have its own switch) but its auto off then it mean not flat batterys! the head unit is tuned in to a preset station and the converter goes to the areal connection you need an adaportor ()and ive put a mini jack connector simular to that on the ipod and then run a cable to the ipod and off you go! sound quality is good got no probs with that!
