Hi,
I'm new to the forum and I bought a while ago a Leon FR and it will arrive to me shortly.
Among the various options I asked the Front Assist.
I wanted to also mount the ACC, but now the order of the car was done and I can no longer mount it.
My question is: the front assist and the ACC have the same sensor? and the same wiring?
I ask this question, because if the difference is only an sofware update, maybe I can "install" the ACC even after.
If it were different, what are the differences?

p.s.: sorry for my bad english, I hope you understand me :)

Thanks,
Valerio

UK Spec cars you have to have both on models where its available. It is possible that you may be able to just "turn it on" using VCDS, I had a similar thought with a family members Volkswagen where he had added High Beam Assistance, on the SEAT the same camera runs the Lane Assistance too, but the unit was different.

Best way to find out will be to get VCDS attached to the car when it arrives, and see what the control module is described as when you interrogate it.

ACC has a sensor in the front bumper just under the number plate

Lane assist, headlight assist etc need the camera that is mounted up near the interior mirror.

Not sure you will be able to just activate them without additional hardware being fitted.

Just for the removal of doubt, I was only using the Lane Assistance / High Beam Assistance as another example of where it might be possible to enable features. Sometimes the grade of hardware is different, and the only way to know is to see if the control module supports the functions.

Guys, the car has yet to get me, so I do not know anything about it.
I have also mounted (to the list of optional) the Front Assist and the sensor of it, should be the same of ACC.
It is right?
This is my main question.

Its possible that it is the same sensor, but there is a chance that it isn't, or that you might need additional hardware to make it work. I don't know enough about what components are a part of the ACC / Front Assist system and how they might differ.

This was precisely my question :)
maybe in authorized repair shop can do this "upgrade". I hope so ...

I can't remember where I read this but I think that the Front Assist radar is short range only and ACC radar is long range. I am not 100% sure but I know I did read this somewhere.

From Euro NCAP Rewards 2012:
VW Front Assist is a system designed to help avoid or to mitigate accidents into the rear of preceding traffic. A long-range radar, positioned at the front of the car, can detect vehicles up to 80m ahead which the car is likely to hit unless action is taken. The information from the front radar is optionally combined with data from a windscreen-mounted camera to calculate the likelihood of an impact.
I don't have a camera fitted.

Found this in the parts catalogue. Seems there are two types of radars. One for acc and one without.

Radar parts

6K2 - Front Assist incl. city automatic emergency braking, without ACC [AWV - Front Assist]
6K3 - Front Assist incl. city automatic emergency braking for ACC low [AWV - Front Assist]

Did someone know the code number of cruise control lever?

It's not that straight forward to mount the acc radar.. 1 the wiring won't be there so you will have to fit wiring 2 it has to be can wired to a separate control unit 3 would have to be set up using vas 6430.. I fitted one last month on a vw golf they had there's cut off and stolen the bill in the end was close to 1500 pounds radar was 900 the wiring had to be replaced due to it getting water in it and corroded all the can wires all in all it took me seven hours to do including basic settings coding and adjustment...
