Fitted a inducton kit last weekend ( pipercross) all fitted fine and pleased with it, but when i finished fitted it i noticed there was a hose/pipe that connected to the factory air box and went into the back of the engine at the bottom but there is no where for it to fit on to on the induction kit.? to me it seems a greenie color and a soft corrigated (spelling) kinda of hose if you get what i mean lol. i brought a pipercross breather filter but i dont think it will fit because the apperture size of the pipe is around 40/50mm and the filter is around 18mm. does anybody know or have anyideas what i should do because im worried its going to suck in crap and do some damage. the car seems to be holding back alittle now but that could just be me.

Cheers

I may be totally wrong, but it may be the oil breather pipe... Get an oil breather filter to go on the pipe... Im not that mechanically minded but I think an oil catch tank works to for it, it brings back the left over oil back to the engine.. connects to that I think.. The more technicly minded should be helpful.

I've a left over pipe from the old airbox connected to an oil breather filter,,

the pipe you're talking about is the warm air pipe - goes from the exhaust manifold to the air box - so your car starts better when cold.

but you've disconnected it, so don't worry.

ha.
the stopper is just a lid off a jar which i thought would look ok, and then just pretty much jammed it onto the pipe. i sand blasted the cover at uni and then just painted it with hammerite. i had the lid off a t-cut bottle or something like on before and that looked loads better but i think it fell off somewhere.

your best off getting an oil catch tank instead of a breather filter. although they do seem expensive at first, the breather filter gets clogged up and needs replacing every so often so in the long run it probably works out cheaper

You will 'need' to relocate the filter from the back of the engine to the front of the engine, behind a light. otherwise, as you say - all you'll suck in is warm air.

that was phase II of my induction

Phase III was a metal case, and cold air fed from the fog lamp

do u think it will still be as bad if you have a cold air feed coming from under the light/underside of the car right up to the induction kit at the rear next to windscreen. i have that set up- but i may buy a new one, or re-locate it or just extend the cold air pipe.

wd40 and a green scowrer (SP*... badly too) just scrub the hell out of the rocker cover... dont even need to take it off, and the rest you just got to get dirty and clean with some cif :)

do you guys think that if i relocate my induction kit to nearer the front it would perform better?
pic of my engine is on previous post if you werent sure.
cheers

I've heard u lose torque...
I've considered drilling my airbox but can't see it making much difference. Might be wrong like!
