Induction kit among things...

Hi guys,

just want some help with buying an induction kit. I would like a good one which not only has a cold air feed but away from the engine and heat sources just to improve air feed that bit more.

I currently have a Leon Cupra with the 220Bhp, but im on a quest for more.

So here is the question what manifold, downpipe and turbo ect would you advise and also could some one tell me if putting a straight through exaust on it will kick in the boost pressure regulator, similar to the evo ?

Also how much would i be looking to spend to get it over 300, and possible even be able to put some of that on the floor, as at the moment getting 220 down is hard enough, specially in the wet.

Thanks for the help guys.

to get it over 300 your looking at a lot of money
different turbo id think for starters, the one from the LCr K04??
as for CAI most people use carbonio or dynatwist
im awaiting delivery of a carbonio which sits in the inner passenger side drivers wing
i assume you have an uprated "diverter" valve, aka dump valve. Most, including myself go for the forge 007p recirc

I have not yet uprated the dump valve as i was considering a different turbo but i dont know which, asi would quite like a atmospheric dump, whats the advantages of the forge 007p, as i have seen it mentioned a few times?

I wouldnt upgrade to a k04, i want something with more power as standard. Im told the engine itself is good for 400bhp without changing the internals on that.

007p is recirc so replaces standard bosch valve which is prone to fail especially after a remap like yrs must have had to be 220.
usually one or two for sale 2nd hand on here so have a look

im really not the person to ask on turbo conversions for VAG cars as im new to them myself

Look at the Eliminator bolt on turbo's, the GTRS will give you in excess of 350 BHP.

http://www.atpturbo.com/root/releases/release090105.htm

Unfortunately an atmospheric dump vavle will not run completely error free on these engines as they use Mass Airflow Meters (MAF) and associated ECU where as you would probably have to convert to a Manifold Absolute Pressure meter (MAP) and ECU accordingly.

As for induction kit I recommend the BMC cda, a carbon airbox encased cone filter that is cool to the touch even after a long journey!

Its the BMC i was originally thinking of, is there one which is suited to the leon? Or does it have to get custom fitted? Any URLs?

Be logical about what you plan to do to get more out of your car - in the immortal words of Clarkson "its no point having 1million BHP from the engine if the chassis can't put it down to the ground")

350bhp is all well and good - but in a FWD car? good luck with that! You'll also need to upgrade clutches, perhaps internals as well. A lot of people recommend LSD's etc.

Have a bit of a search on the forums, and take a look at Robdon's motor - he's planning on a GT2X turbo in the very near future to get him just around the 300bhp+ mark, but you can see what else he's had to do to get there!

you WILL need a bigger turbo to see 300bhp, you WILL need a stronger clutch to see 300bhp, you WONT be able to do this on standard internals and running gear, and trying to do so would be foolish

The kit ya want is the CDASP-01. The fit isn't that straight forward, to get the cold feed in behind the bumper I had to rip out alot of plastic trim under the head light, but its all redundant plastic anyway so don't worry! The airbox bolts straight onto the MAF housing with 2 screws but you need to use the rubber ring washer to make a sealed fit! The rubber ring comes with the kit!

What about the internals of an LCR?
Would they need to be uprated?

Clutch is a necessity and so is suspension but not sure on how strong the insides of a LCR actually are.

Hi
I would say to get the power down you could do with an ATB Diff and clutch.
I would get the Diverter Valve done.
The internals of the OEM product is flimsey and I have seen them go on even standard engines.
So they would be my reccomendations for that.
The CAI you could go for the Carbonio

That is the info that you want for them.
