Hey,

i cant find a gearbox anywhere for my car apart from seat and they want £1,348 + 600 surge charger, But i cant get that back because my box has a hole init!! What am i goin to do, any ideas?? ..

Have you tried the 24/7 online crap yards? They search all over the uk to find stuff.

I know Bill at Badger 5 has had a few boxes in his ibiza so maybe he knows somehere to get one? Failing that take it down to A1 gear boxes and gett them to build you a new shot pened quafe version!

My mate paid 2k for a custom one off box with RST internals and a mk5 fiesta outer. So i think a repair/ rebuild would be cheaper. I will have a word with him and get you the name of the company if you want as im not sure that’s right. I know its on the A1 and it has A1 in the name and that the bloke is a gearbox specialist with over 20 years experience

Have you tried contacting a transmission specialist? whilst I am London Based I know a long standing company in Bristol who might help. They are called Gloucester Road Gearboxes. See www.grgb.co.uk.

Give up on the Stealers for any sensible advice or pricing, they charge £240 plus Vat for a cr4p mild steel back box, when you can get a stainless steel cat back system for the same price. My firendly local Seat Stealer even wanted me to make a special trip to pre-pay for £8 worth of nuts and bolts prior to ordering them in for me, when they already know I'm good for £200 worth of service!!!

Failing the above have you tried Yell.com and scouring scrappies and auto salvage. Someone must have totalled one by now. Stealers!

That will be A1 Gearbox in St. Neots.

They did a gearbox for me years ago on an MG Metro. Did a top job.
