Hi all.

I have heard that some of the CupraR's are imports - is this true?

As they come over from Spain, I thought they were all imports in a sense?

If so, how can you tell the difference between an "import" and one that was made for the British market?

Thanks - Cobraman2007:lol:

Yep I bought an Import, very difficult to tell the difference.......the service book / owners log on mine had a dutch stamp in it from memory.

UK cars would have a UK dealers stamp.

Euro spec LCR's didn;t have Brembo's as Standard but they were an option, my car was spec'd with Brembo's so no difference there.

Yes - a fair few imports out there - but they are not considered "Grey" imports, but more "parallel".

My leon came from the Netherlands originally. The original owner saved 1.5k ish on book price.

However, all imports need to come with a CoC - Certificate of Conformity. This shows that it is a UK spec car, built for the UK, and there is ZERO difference between them and the UK car.
Every insurer I have asked has just put the car as a UK car. So long as you have that paperwork, it should be fine.

Please remember this - if you do not ask the question "Is this car an import" at the time of purchase, then the sellers are not legally obliged to tell you - I thought about taking my SEAT dealer to court over it because initially it seemed like it was going to cost me £100's more in insurance, but because i hadn't asked the question I wouldn't have stood a chance.

By the way - the imports generally come as a higher spec - for example - full leather, armrest, headlight washers etc.
