I'm thinking of buying a new face lift Leon with the spec as below:

Common Rail TDI FR
18" Orion Alloys
Winter pack
Bluetooth.
Passenger Air bag disocnnect (so as not to leave a blank on the intertior.
Crono Yellow

Is there anything alse I should be considering?

Do you mean anything else as in optional extras or different cars?

I think xenons aren't too badly priced on the Leon from memory but don't they to a tech pack or something similar? That looked quite good value for money compared to buying loads of options.

Black Orions look really good against the yellow IMO. Some will say don't go for yellow but it's a traditional SEAT colour and much cheaper than the Custom Palette colours.

I have had that thought myself, but thats another £500 (because it comes with the bluetooth doesn't it?).

I've been to two dealers today trying do buy my Leon.

I managed to get them to agree to a sizable discount. However, what the would not do was to give me the Scrappage too!

Now the £2000 scrappage does not come from the dealer. £1000 comes from the Government and £1000 comes from Seat. One insisted they made a contribution to the Scrappage. The other insisted they only has a margin of £800 on a new car!

So the dealers margins are the same.

Has anyone out there managed to get a good discount and a £2000 scrappage?

Also, the list price for a Leon goes up £500 in October.

Yes! A decent (Petrol)engine and Dsg If not buy a Skoda!

If I didn't drive 20,000 miles a year to work and back I would have bought a Cupra long ago.

So, what I really need is a job closer to home!

Most employers won't pay for the daily commute to/from home to your usual office even if they pay for all other work-related mileage.

Methinks you may have been wrongly informed about where the scrappage money comes from. The government does give us £1,000 (although there are still VAT issues around this payment) and SEAT UK may appear to give the other £1,000, but, because they give us dealers a reduced margin on scrappage cars we lose around 6.5% of the margin we would normally have, this means the scrappage money is a three way contribution from government, SEAT UK and supplying dealer with the government recouping their share from the VAT paid on that car purchase.

However, there is something called scrappage plus which gives an additional £500 (up to £4,140 on some other Leon models )on scrappage Leon FRs ordered by 30th September.
The list price for a Leon goes up in October but I'm afraid there's nothing dealers can do about that. Whichever way you look at it £2,500 off a new Leon FR is bloody good value compared to cars such as the Golf 170 or Audi A3 both of which lose money quicker than the Leon and wouldn't give half the fun.

Yep same here, all of the field service engineers at my company are the same, "based from home" as we never know where we are going until the phone rings with a brakedown call.

Back on topic, IMO you get the best deals on demonstrator or display models, When I was looking for my leon I found dealers with unregistered FR's with delivery miles and lots of options for 17-17.5k these cars would be 19.5-20k if ordered and they are ready to roll in a week.

I got a 58 plate one a few months ago with 18's, winter pack, convinience pack, sunroof and about 3k miles on the clock for 15k. Also the dealer gave me the gloss black mirror covers, front grill and paint touch up kit for free once I let go of their twisted arm I had to travel 100 miles each way to view it and collect it but it was worth it.

I got a similair deal to nath, when i got my leon fr a few weeks ago. A 58 plate emocion red leon fr tdi with 2000 miles on the clock 170 pd for £15000. I test drove the common rail, and my mate who works for seat had one for a few months, i thought it felt more refined, less noisy, but in all honesty not as quick as the pump deuse, and he himself got a bit fed up of the common rail, he said the power curve was to linear, instead of the pd where u get a whack of torque at 2k rpm, this behaved more petrol like without the revs.
