Hi everyone,

I’ve just got my first car after sharing the family one for a while—a 2002 Leon Cupra MK1 with the AUQ engine. I love it; it’s much quicker than the family car (an Octavia). I’ve done all the servicing (oil, filters, spark plugs, coils, etc.), but there’s one issue I’m unsure about: the idle. It shakes when idling, though it drives perfectly otherwise.

The car’s been mapped and had a new clutch last year. When I got it, the engine light was on due to a faulty MAF sensor, which I’ve replaced, and the light’s gone. I asked the garage about the shaking, and they found an exhaust hole causing a blowing sound, which they think is the issue. However, I’m still unsure, so I’m asking here.

Does anyone know what to check or what the possible issues could be?

TIA!

Hey,

I`ve dealt with a problem like this before and it`s usualy the carbon build up on the intake and exhaust manifold, you can try cleaning it to see if the issue is resolved.

Ah also, I’m guessing that has to be taken apart for it to be cleaned right? If that’s the case I’ll see if I can get it done when I get the exhaust welded soon. Thanks!
