Hello, I really want to get a Mk3 Ibiza but i am quite annoyed that you cant change the head unit as i do like my music! What is the standard head unit like, I do not know much about car audio but if i just upgrade the speakers will it sound good or will the head unit be letting it down?

Also, will i be able to play music off my ipod, does the standard stereo have a Aux/Line in?

p.s please dont say to mount a new headunit somewhere else, i do not realy want to do that!

Hi mate and welcome to SCN! Depends what you want really. You can upgrade the speakers in the doors and buy an amp to power them to make it better which helps which I've done. It does sound alot better if you don't want to go down the h/u option.

If you want to use an iPod I believe you can get a Connets2 device which will fit on the end of the multichanger lead situated in the boot. Not too sure about details I'm afraid!

This has been answered loads of times before so it might be worth searching this forum!

I really dont think its a big deal having the stereo like it is, in fact i think its pretty genius but thats my opinion! Obvously it depends if you find one with a 6 Disc CD Changer in the boot (this was an optional extra from new) but there isnt many cars these days that have a tape player in the unit like the Cupras do!

I really think its fantastic! I have had two Cupras now and have always found its done everything i have ever needed it to do! The standard speakers are fine but you can upgrade them

Trust me, i really dont see a problem in it but this is my opinion! I actually prefer this stereo to one you can get and put in yourself and believe me, i LOVE my music

for your ipod you can get an fm transmitter for £30 quid which uses your radio frequency to play music through. May be better than having it in your boot. Mate had one and it sounded good. But if thats not the case ppl can correct me if im wrong

they are now legal in the UK. I know they used to be illegal and you had to get them from USA but you can now buy them here. Places like firebox.com do them. But as I said i've not used one so if people say sound quality is poor then fair enough as i aint used one

the sound quality is not that bad but its not brilliant mine crackles know and again but i drove to manchester in my mates saxo and it worked perfectly all the way. another mate also has uprated speakers and a sub running of his standard cupra headunit and it sounds brilliant. people cant belive its the standard headunit.
