It's that time again new tyres for the front of the ibiza for the missus, now Iam not sure its worth the money to have the eagle F1's that I have run very happy for several years on my leon so do I stick with the bridgestone's we have currently, go for dunlop which seems to be the other original fit from seat or something else?

Your opinions please............

Dunlops are fantastic if you get perverse enjoyment from that "oh-****-I'm-heading-for-the-outside-of-the-bend-and-I'm-going-to-die" feeling. ;)

If you mean the Dunlop SP2000, I had them on mine when I got it, and in the wet I had far too many "brown" moments with them. The TDI FR needs all the grip it can get at the front end, otherwise it does understeer quite badly.

I've now replaced the front pair with Toyo T1-R. These are much grippier altogether, though the wear rate I'm getting is a bit disappointing - I may not manage to get 10,000 out of them.

The standard dunlops i had on mine lasted 6k, then i had a set of toyo t1-s and had to switch from front to back after 3k. Im now on bridgestone potenzas and so far they are pretty good in the wet and dry. Have a look on www.mytyres.co.uk this is where i got the bridgstones from, and can do nothing but praise them

Hi I found the original Bridgestones terrible, scary in the wet especially post remap. I have fitted Khumho ecstas (latest pattern) since and they are loads better escpecially in the wet big improvement and at around £55 a corner a bargain.

Dont know if they are available for your size of wheel but I had michelin pilots on my last car and was v impressed. Have pirelli p zeros as standard fit on my new fr tdi (and on the rear of my bmw eventually) and never had any gripes with them.

Agreed, don't go for Bridgestone Turanzas - they were fitted on my Ibiza from new and were terrible.

Running Toyo T1-Rs on the Passat now, quite impressed by them, have done about 9k miles now and reckon there's probably another 2-3k left on the fronts, didn't cost too much either.
The T1-Rs are supposed to last a good bit longer than the T1-S did.
All depends on your driving style though.

BF Goodridge G Profiler gets an excellent review on mytyres. Anything at overall rating of 2 or below is worth the money :)

Hi had a set of the Toyo T1's on my old car (Vauxhall Corsa SXi 1.2 16v 2003), along with a set of Koni Coilovers the car handled amazingly well! In the wet it was much better than I was used to, however the wet was obviously nowhere near as good as the dry. As for tyre wear I can't really comment as I only had the tyres for a few months before selling the car.

Go for Toyo T1-R's. Mine have done over 10k and have loads of tread left (i cant be trying hard enough).

Avoid Dunflops (Especially SP2000) if you value life.
