Ibiza 'DAB' trim

When I took delivery of my nearly new (3 mths old, dealer demo) Ibiza 1.9 TDi DAB it was brought to my attention that the upper trim on the drivers door was completely different to the rest of the car, has an embossed pattern in it, rather than the rough finish of the other trim, but not to worry as another has been ordered. At the same time I noticed that when the dealer monkeys had installed the chrome vent kit they'd scratched the dashboard around one of the vents. I was told one of these would be ordered too. This was 23rd March . . .

After numerous phone calls to the dealer and their parts department and calls to SEAT UK headquarters I am no further forward, they tell me that as it is a Ltd Edition car there are no spares available at present (which I think is b0llocks) - does anyone have any advice before I go back there and start shouting!!

Depends on how attached you are to the car.

Under the Sale of Goods Act, threaten to hand it back and ask for your money back. However, I think you should have explored this possibility earlier. Sounds like you've been fobbed off by saying the bits have been ordered. Did you get proof? Ask for a copy of the order.

Some old story unfortunately, once they've sold you a car, that's the end of the deal as far as garages are concerned - in the majority of cases.

Went to the dealers today - the original salesman (a friend), with whom I had been dealing with, left on Friday, so I wanted to make sure that my 'problem' was still known about. No-one knew anything about it!! I noticed that the trim I am missing (or wrong) is the same as an Ibiza in the showroom, so they couldn't really explain why there should be a problem getting hold of it. Spoke to the manager who has promised me that he will follow it up with the parts dept. and the service manager and get back to me with some news as soon as possible (Mon, Tues). Fingers crossed . . .

Woo and Yay - a surprise phone call over the bank holiday weekend from the dealers and they have the parts and they are ready for fitting - it's been with the dealers for two days and I've got it back tonight and it's complete and finally like it should have been when I first picked it up !!! :D :D
