Ibiza Cupra TDi Gearing

Hi guys

I'm thinking of buying a Mk4 Ibiza Cupra TDi but im curious as to what they are geared for?

I know on the Fabia VRS, the later ones had a much closer gearbox, making high speed cruising noisey and un-economical (sp?) but i happen to know the earlier ones are much longer legged, having a much longer 6th (final?) gear.

Could someone let me know what sort of RPM's there are at typical speeds and gears, such as 70MPH in 6th? 100MPH in 6th? I know 100 is just under 3000RPM in the VRS

Thanks alot

70mph is like 2.2K, they aren't geared like the VRS, much shorter

Ah right. That doesn't sound too good :(

I'm sure i read somewhere the early VRS' were geared for nearly 180! Much much longer ratios. Perfect cruiser and good economy. Any idea what 3000RPM is in 6th?

Ahh! This could be another reason why my cupra isn't as economical as the Fabia VRS was. I do 60mph on the motorway on the way to work and that is just under 2000rpm. Pretty sure it was the same on the 55 plate fabia??
