Hi everyone,

had my mk3 cupra about a week. I don't know if this is common to all ibizas or if it's just mine so just thought I would ask...

The fuel gauge seems all over the place.. one minute its at 3/4s next its at half a tank etc. The other day the petrol light came on and the gauge said I had 1/4 of a tank

also.. my trip computer makes out that I'm averaging 21mpg and thats with gentle driving..

any ideas or advice?

Mark

ok.. so all the fuel gauges are a bit dodgy! I have been taking it steady.. maybe if I check the average over a longer distance/time it will improve (lets hope anyway!) thanks for the replies guys :)

The cars are shite on petrol, come can claim 35+ mpg.... but they drive like pussys ;)

Its a performance engine, you can expect it to be thirsty. As for the guage, just listen for the beep and refill it.

Yeah that bleep scares the crap out of me as its normally when you aint got music on !! 21mpg does sound a bit low as mines normally no lower than 27mpg and I don't poodle about !! As said above have you reset it ??

Mark the Shark! They eat fuel! And the little orange light does come on quite early. Probably slightly different on the petrol than your old clio!

Yes I did reset it 1 week ago.. it seems worse on fuel than the civic type r.. which I certainly did not expect!

And yes, Seat could have certainly made that beep a little quieter couldn't they?!

Don't listen to the trip computer!!!!! I have run it rite down on fuel and it says you have 0 miles in the tank yet i still got about 20!!!!! Gauge does move but not quickly!!!! sometimes when your driving the sensors isn't always covered. When i sit there wit the engine ticking over the gauge goes up.

TBH it will be much worse than the CTR!!!! CTR is VTEC so unless you drive in the VTEC all the time it's fairly good on fuel. Turbo cars are much worse on fuel!!!!

yeah i've noticed that it goes up when your idling.

nice to know its not just mine anyway, and a shame to know they're so **** on fuel! I assume it gets MUCH worse after REVO?

Apparently It does not worsen after REVO, I have read it can improve fuel consumption? But depends how you drive i guess!
